Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 24-May 30,2021

If your hysterectomy was between May 24-May 30,2021 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your hysterectomy recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads now begin in our special forum for all Hysterectomy Recovery Reports and will remain there for you to always find your discussion.
  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!
  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 24-May 30,2021

to the other side and to your Recovery Thread. Your fears of facing surgery are all over and now you can concentrate on recovery. I am ((bkfranke)) and I will joining you during your initial recovery period. This is your place to keep us up to date on how you are, meet other sisters who are recovering along with you, and find answers to the many questions that will come.

I remember the questions I had after surgery. I was too nervous to post at first but I read my Recovery Thread every day. I soon realized no one would bite me, no question was a dumb question, this was my chance to be with others who were the same place I was AND this was the place to be encouraged.

Please, don’t be SHY – join us and let us know how you are and what your questions and concerns are. (bathroom issues, gas pains, swelly belly, insomnia ) You may not be able to ask them anywhere else but you can ask them here. We are here for you.

So sit back Princesses:
-- Get plenty of rest
-- No lifting, pushing, pulling, or bending
-- Drink lots (and pee lots)
-- Did I mention rest?
-- Walk a little each day (do not pass go; do not run, skip or dance )

Thank you so much for allowing me to join you on your journey.

Remember we are here for you. You are not alone.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 24-May 30,2021

17 hours post op- had a spinal analgesia as well as a GA but this only partially worked so right side initially very sore. Then had a lovely 6 hours on pain meds -then the bowels decided to come back to life and produce lots of gas all night, so not much sleep (it's 5am here). My blood pressure was low so was terrified of fainting on my first trip to the toilet but the nurse was lovely and kept checking it. Mild shoulder tip pain only so far but I had a C-section cut not laparoscopic .
Today looks like having the catheter out and lots of little walks round the room to get this gas moving.

Hope everyone else doing ok x

Had my laparoscopic hysterectomy yesterday at 7:30 am and got home at 4pm. They took everything except my left ovary. My pain is okay on percocet but not as relieved as I'd like. I feel like I have have gas bubbles in my ribs. Definitely took my stomach muscles for granted before, it's hard to get up. I'm resting and taking it easy this first day.

Had my TVH and BSO yesterday, the 24th. All went well. Couldn't pee so they kept me overnight. I have peed three times this morning. Doctor said the surgery only took an hour. He had to clean the scar tissue off of my bladder, so that is causing me a moderate amount of pain. Once I get that pain controlled I should be able to go home. Pain meds making me very sleepy so planning on sleeping lots the next few days. Doc says to get up and walk a little also and don't overdo it. Letting my mom take care of me this week so I can recuperate. So glad the surgery is over and I am on the road for healing. Best wishes to all!

Eat too much today and moved too much and had the worst gas pains ever. Literally feel like I've been in labour for the last 12 hours. Exhausted and got very teary this afternoon. Things settling a bit now since I stopped anything but clear fluids again.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 24-May 30,2021

Congrats to everyone for getting through your surgeries! It sounds like we’re all have similar issues.
I made it home today after a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy yesterday morning (5/24/21). I’m still trying to figure out the best way to stagger meds for the most pain relief. Currently I’m doing Tylenol and Motrin together every 6 hours alternated with OxyContin every 6 hours. I’m exhausted and dread having to get up and sit back down when I need to pee! I’m drinking tons of water. I was nauseous (despite meds to counteract) and still don’t have much of an appetite. Though I’m forcing myself to nibble on food when I take medicine. Overall, I’m so glad to have the surgery behind me and beyond grateful that it was laparoscopic (dr said it might have to be abdominal due to fibroid and uterus size).
