I've been getting gas pains in my upper abdomen. I have also been constipated. I get the gas pains usually after I eat something, although there seems to be no set pattern to them. I never had these before. I also have been trying to eat fruits, etc. but they don't seem to help. These pains have me doubled over too.

Wow!! I've had the most energy the last 4 days. Cleaned my basement,had a garage sale, been walking a lot and even went on a bike ride around the lake. Going uphill was a little uncomfortable but I made it!! The weather here is beautiful!! 75 degrees and no humidity. Expecting severe storms for the 4th. Go figure. Hopefully I will be back to work next week. I have to admit, I am quite tired today but all is well. Life is good.!!!!!

Even though my Dr. prescribed me some stool softner, I didn't need to take it because the consistency of my stool was normal and didn't make me strain at all. I try to eat food rich in fiber and ate prunes to help with the digestion and drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Didn't have gas pain although a couple of times I felt something like you described "sharp bloated gas pains". I, too, would like to know some abdominal exercises and know when we could start with those. I am about 5 weeks post-op. I am about 136 lbs. 5'4"

Wednesday will be 5 weeks for me also. I hope when I go in for my 6 week check-up, everything is healing fine. I have had a few shooting pains in the lower abdomen the last few days, I hope it's just gas pains. Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July!

I'm at 5 wks and have noticed the shooting pains too. I was thinking it was that I was over-doing things a little because I feel so much better. My digestive system is still a little confused, so I guess that could be some of it too.

I am 5 weeks today!! Thurs July 5th I go to see dr and then I should know when I should be going back to work (GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!) and also when my dh and I can also have sex he is biting at the bit.
He tells me it is to long and we laugh at that. I tell him he is just a big baby.
I am doing better. I have been getting some headaches which I don't like anymore but I am hoping that it is just tension and worry about going to work and stuff. I am hoping they will go away again. I am praying for that to happen.

Good luck to you at the July 5th Post-op check up. Don't worry if the doctor do not give you the greenlight for sex. You could still have intimacy with your DH and please him in other ways - only the penetration has to wait until it is for certain healed. If our spouse truly loves us, they will understand what we are going through.

Hello everyone! I was waiting for the green light for sex too,but the doc said NOT until 6 weeks. I'm going nuts and my husband is too. Although, I'm more nervous. I hope it will be like it was. ????? What if I'm different and he KNOWS it? I wonder if they really can tell? or is it just us? (I feel like a virgin...sorta)

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with gas pains. It's so weird. This morning, 2 bouts of major diarrhea. Now tomorrow, I may be constipated. So odd. I'm feeling very good, other than digestive matters. They called from my hospital where I work and all is approved. So, I don't go back to work until July 30th. I feel like I'm playing hooky...but I will enjoy my time off now. My doc suggested 8 full weeks off. He said he knows what kind of work I do and I'm on my feet all day as an RN..... (I truly mean...all day)....so I will take the extra 2 weeks off. I also had bladder surgery and my urologist said no sex for 10 weeks! My OB doc said 8....My hubby swears he said 6....I never heard him say that.... Happy 4th of July everyone!
