surgical menopause at 41 - ?????

Does anyone around my age (41) have experience with surgical menopause? I can't find anyone in my work or personal life who can relate/answer questions regarding this as all of them are on HRT.

I can't have HRT due to a stroke a few months ago. I am really looking forward to post-surgery for a number of reasons - and am going into this with a very positive attitude. However, not having heard from anyone who has direct experience with this at my age leaves some unanswered questions in my mind.

I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone who has gone through this at or around my age. What were your experiences? How quickly did you notice changes (hot flashes, etc)? Were you surprised by anything?

I'm 40 and will be 41 in November. I'll be in surgical menopause as well starting this Wednesday. Not sure what to look forward to. The pain will hopefully be gone after my surgery. Hot flashes can't be worse than the discomfort I'm already in.

I'll let you know in a week if I get them.
