Too many losses and alone and scared
I understand how lonely you feel. Even though I haven't had my hyst yet I underwent removal of my left kidney in '92. It was my first surgery ever and as I live in a rural area I had my op in the City (Melbourne) and our children were quite small then so DH had to stay at home (which is a good 2 hours away) to look after them. My Mum had passed 2 years previously and I missed and needed her terribly at that time but she was there I felt her particularly the first 48 hours. People look at me crazy when I tell them this story and say things like "oh it was all the drugs you were on" but no it wasn't I know the touch and smell of her. So be comforted maybe she won't be there physically but she will be there spiritually looking after you. to you, you will be in prayers may you have a safe and speedy recovery and BTW check with the hospital they have people there specifically to help and listen to patients who don't have any back up.

Here is another "sister" who made it to the other side. I too, am very sad for your losses. This is a great site to know that there are others cheering for you, and ready to provide moral support. All this great energy really does help!
Do you know any of your mother's friends who could talk? I found that my next door neighbor had been through the same thing 20 years ago (she just turned 60), and is a good support. Take care!

Too many losses and alone and scared
My moms best friend lost her husband last week so we have been keeping in touch. I am finding out how many people are around and as my day gets closer its nice to know there are people out there who understand and can offer support.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother two years ago. Saying that time does heal just isn't enough, but it does. My first thought when I found out that I would need the surgery is "I want my mom." I am 44 years old. She is still with you in your heart even though she can't be with you physically. Two weeks is a very short time, with the stress and strain of the holiday season and the surgery on your mind, you must be in a whirlwind. Don't let people who don't understand what you are feeling get you down. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Too many losses and alone and scared
Ty for your kind words an support. Your right my mind is in a whirlwind, the surgery is on my mind 24/7..starting too drive me a little batty, I dream about it , I wake up in middle of nite with it on my mind, hard time sleeping, dont know how i'll get threw the next 9 weeks. think thats going to be the hardest to handle. Worried about so many things like who will look after my 12 yr old son nevermind myself as I am a single mom. Who's going to do the laundry or cooking nevermind the shopping. One good thing is tho I found out I cant losse the job I just started 6 weeks ago due to surgery and time off work that will be needed for recovery. and about the only place where my mind is at ease is when iam working. I would say the pain of all this has me alittle freaked out, even told my dr. last week that I better be well medicated when I wake up. I have no tolence for pain, but then who does..lol

Maybe your son can learn to do laundry and things like that. 12 is old enough for the basics. He might be more helpful than you think right now.

Oh, bless your heart. What a hard time for you! Life would be so much simpler if the major events could just happen one at a time.
I think the suggestion to talk with your mother's friends is a good idea. You have your mother in common, and if they are her age they may have some health wisdom and support to share as well. Sometimes you stumble across someone who has had similar experiences, and they are wonderful support. There is much to be said for not having to explain what you feel. It may not be someone you are ordinarily close to, either. People come together under strange circumstances.
The ladies here are terrific, so don't hesitate to come to this site for support. Someone is always around.
You will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.
