Incontinence Question??

I had my pre-op today, and it went well. I'm all set for the 31st.

I was told to expect some incontinence after the procedure (which I figured), but now I'm wondering how long it will last??? Will it be similar to after childbirth?? A few weeks maybe? I guess I want to know ahead of time wht is normal and when to be worried, you know?

Thanks!

Incontinence Question??

Hi there!

I didn't actually suffer incontinence, but when I urinated I couldn't "feel" the muscles working, if that makes any sense. I still felt the urge, but I didn't feel like I was making any effort to go. (Odd, I know.... but that's the only way I can describe it.) This lasted for a few weeks, and it didn't really bother me at all.

This would be a good question for a call back to the doctor to see exactly what was meant by this. These things often depend on the actual procedure you're having done, including any bladder repairs that may be included.

I hope other (((sisters))) will come along with additional insight for you.

Incontinence Question??

My doc had to do an unexpected bladder repair due to adhesions, and I have not had any issues w/ incontinences. I do feel pressure when it is time, but I can definitely hold it. It's probably just on the docs list of the things they have to mention that might be a problem.

Don't freak yourself out about it! I do know that waiting a long time for the procedure makes you a little freaked out with extra time to worry. If it helps all things considered mine experience so far isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Important to follow all pre op & post op doctor instructions to the letter.

Good Luck.
