Insane insomnia and nausea at bedtime (mind is racing)

Hi sisters...

I've known about my surgery for awhile and after the initial shock, I was embracing my health and the relief this would bring me from debilitating pain and bleeding.

Although in the past 3 or 4 days I've been struggling with terrible insomnia and nausea at bedtime. Every time I close my eyes, my mind starts racing about the procedure, getting prepared to be away from work, recovery, pain, my relationship with my husband...and on and on and on.

In addition to that...Images of the ACTUAL surgery flash into my mind and it makes me physically ill. The other night my husband actually got me a bowl to keep by the side of the bed!

My surgery is not until Mar. 18th and I've lost 4 pounds and am exhauseted

Re: Insane insomnia and nausea at bedtime (mind is racing)

Hi clarity7 -

I know this is a tough surgery to face. Your emotions, concerns, fears, and insomnia are all normal. Even your nausea. Extreme stress can do that. It is daunting to be away from work for all of that time, and fear of the unknown of what post-op will be like is also difficult.

You may want to talk to your doctor to see if you can get something to help you sleep and to help your nausea.

You might also try to keep yourself busy to keep your mind off things. I also found yhat vigorous exercise helped me.

Just know that you are not alone. You are not going insane, and we really understand what you are going through.
