I'm still really sore and can't seem to eat anything without getting sharp excruciating cramps in my stomach as it goes down. I've lost about 6 pounds because I can't eat. How are you doing?

That is awful about the cramps you are haveing when you eat. Has you're DR. Said anything about it? I am hoping it gets better soon so u can eat. I hope you're sorness is also getting better. Yesterday I went to the Dr and just being in the car and sitting at the Dr office put me in a lot of pain. Everything is exhausting and makes me sleepy. Today is better pain wise but I get gas bubbles that randomly will go through my intestines it feels weird. I hope it gets better. Are u able to walk? I am only able to walk about 10 min so far.

My doctor is out ofntown until Monday he has been out all week. I can walk around for about the same times as you. My wound opened up a bit and has been bleeding, and I think I have a bad uti. Only difference is I can't sleep and I've been taking Ambien for about 5 months and it still doesn't help along with the pain medication. I started taking gas x and it helped get alot of gas out. I really hope you start feeling better. It really sucks to be down for so long to heal.

So sorry to hear about the eating problems! I had no appetite for the first 4-5 days, but it’s since come around. Hope the same happens for you!

As for walking, I took a very slow 10 min walk today as well at 8dpo, and it wiped me out and made me depressed. I’m feeling a lot of downward pull in my abdomen and my incisions are starting to tug when I’m upright. I feel like I’ll never be mobile!

I had challenges with that in hospital. It did start to resolve itself … we just have to remember all our insides are bruised as well. I went back to simple comfort foods (crackers, shortbread, toast) and it seemed to help

Hi … I know that feeling. I’m 10 days post op today and have managed a couple of 5 minute walks to the end of my street so far … I hear you with the tugging sensation! I saw a neighbour who said I looked like a teddy bear trying to walk with all the stuffing taken out - not far wrong. For me the key is little and often so today I’m going to walk out to the enD of the road twice

Everyone I speak to says take it slow which for a bunch of dynamic go getters like us is tough, but hopefully slow now means better recovery later

Sending you all gentle hugs and positive thoughts xx

Thanks, glad I’m not the only one! I’d been feeling super competitive with women who claim they’re already walking a mile a week out or vacuuming their houses, or other nonsense I’m not ready for.

I had a big mental turnaround when a doctor and a nurse both said that when we push ourselves to move more than we should, we are stealing energy from our bodies that is needed for healing. The doctor said the amount of energy/calories we use to repair ourselves is akin to climbing a mountain! The nurse said that the only thing I should be doing is walking enough to prevent blood clots, anything more is excessive and can wait until I’m more recovered. And so, I’m taking it way down. Not looking at my steps. Just focusing on my physical healing and mental health.

Here’s to smooth healing for all my hyster sisters, and not overdoing it! xo
