Flatfroggie and Lou49, so sorry you are having such strong emotions right now. I do think we have each taken a turn with that. I was crying all the time the first few weeks after surgery but also kind of feel that I am just not thinking about the emotional side and wonder too if all of a sudden it will start.

Catnapper - I agree with the tricky part of our recovery and definitely regretted overdoing it today. When I was dropping off my son today at school I saw his teacher from last year who is a sweetheart and we stopped to talk and she told me she had a girlfriend who was completely better after three weeks and had the abdominal incision. I know we all heal differently but I definitely walked away feeling like what the he-- is taking me so long to heal for. However, she then said her friend used to go to curves and when she tried to do it couldn't because some of the machines would cause her to have pain. Also glad you had the day off so you could rest up for tomorrow. It must be tough to work only on commission. I always thought furniture sales were salary and commission. Talk to you soon.

Catnapper - I have noticed the past few nights you seem to be on at the same time as me. I know I am on because I can't sleep for more than 4 to 5 hours at a time if I am lucky. Do you have the same problem or just like staying up late? Just curious.

Catnapper - that is great to know. Same goes for me. I have only been to Chicago? How far is that from where you live? I loved Chicago and many, many years ago worked for Sears Roebuck when they still had buying offices in NY. That is not when I went to Chicago but I thought it was nice that they had asked me to move to Chicago to continue working for them but I did not want to leave NY.

Catnapper - I don't know if you will see my last post tonight but I am finally feeling tired so I am going to go lay down and read for a while until I fall asleep. Have a great night and talk to you soon.

Chicago's about 2 1/2 hours north of Champaign. I used to take the train up there a lot when I was younger and had friends up there. Did you go to the top of the Sears Tower? I hope you had some famous Chicago deep dish pizza while you were there.

I don't know why, but I've been thinking that you live in PA. Are you on the western side of NY state? I went to NY city once for a Steinway seminar when I used to sell pianos. Talk about looking like a wide-eyed hick! Chicago seemed like a small town compared to the big apple. I couldn't believe how close the cars were to each other when driving in Manhattan. Thank goodness I didn't have to do the driving.

The other place I've been in your state is Shelter Island...more my speed. I loved it and would like to go back sometime.

Are you in a city or a small town? Champaign-Urbana is about 100,000 and the home of the University of Illinois. It's very flat here and we're surrounded by lots of corn and bean fields.

Catnapper - sorry for the confusion. I do live in Pa in the Poconos near Stroudsburg. When I went to Chicago and worked for Sears I lived in NY. I grew up in Queens, NY and even though I have lived in the Poconos for 17 years I still consider NY my home. I worked in Manhattan for 16 years. When I was younger I never thought twice about driving in Manhattan but now I am smarter and will no longer do it. I have become a country chick. My dh will still drive in Manhattan. Actually though, I have driven in San Francisco and feel because of all the hills that driving there is even worse than Manhattan.

The poconos has some mountains and lots of hilly backroads. I am near Shawnee Mountain and Camelback among other ski areas but no one in my family skis (DH used to but now has a bad back). Both my ds don't want to bother learning. Compared to the city this is a small town. The entire county has about 100,000 people. We have East Stroudsburg University about 15 minutes from the house which from what I hear is a good college. We are about 1 1/2 hours from Manhattan and about the same distance from Philadelphia.

Hi Bagpuss checking in. I haven't posted for the last few days. I have been far more active. I am hoping to return to work next Tuesday if my GP will sing me off. My son starts his Easter holidays for two weeks but some of the time he will be in club. My incision still hurts and I am taking paracetamol. I also had my first session of physiotherapy yesterday. Hopefully I will be able to have a few sessions if my insurance allows. I think dh wants be back to normal but I am still going to bed early usually to read and to rest. I am feeling good about my progress and recovery. Best wishes to all

Hello all sorry to have not been around much in the last few days. I am having similar hair disaters. My hair is an unattractive blond colour due to disasterous highlights a week ago. Someone actually said they liked it yesterday LOL! I'm making plans for the Easter break and my son had his Easter bonnet parade at school yesterday. We will stay over one night on Easter Sunday in Suffolk where dhs parents live . I will go into a B&B as there is no room at dhs parents for me. I do feel that I'm getting back to normal. I still feel incredibly tired but I do rest and let the jobs pile up around me. Have started back on Weight watchers and have lost a few pounds. Even that although I'm still about 10lbs overweight makes me feel better about myself. Love and hugs to all will try and post later. Love BP.

Hi ladies! I do feel a bit guilty about lurking on this thread since it's not 'my' one! Feel much better today about my 'mini melt-down' yesterday - thanks flatfroggie, babcocks and catnapper for your comments - think it was a bit of post-traumatic stress stuff. Did a little shopping with dd yesterday; she pushed trolley in supermarket, unloaded stuff, and thought I was a bit strange when I said how delightful I found it to be out at the shops but understood better when I told her that you really miss ordinary things when you can't do them!
Had a lovely walk as weather was fabulous spring day yesterday (it's horrible today though) and I felt like singing like in a musical 'it's good to be here...'! Good night's sleep and feel quite perky today!
Thanks all.
Louise
