Good morning everyone. Sympathy and prayers for those with difficulties, cheers for those who are progressing well and hugs for everyone

Ele, someone needs to shake you good All that running around -- state fairs, shopping, etc. -- of course you're in pain! You reap what you sow, girl. You wish everyone else good healing but don't allow it for yourself.

I am really going to miss these new friendships when this thread ends. You're the first folks I visit in the morning and the last ones I see at night. Love you all

Good morning all!!

Simplyme- I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Ashleyuz-Your in my prayers.

Well Got a whole nights sleep!! Ok did some research yesterday OTC sleep aids have benedryl and some kind of pain med. Advil pm/Tylenol pm/Excedrin pm. Well I can only take one benedryl. So when I tried Tylenol pm I took two so had very hard night. Last night I took two advil for the pain and one Benedryl and slept very well. They do make a Tylenol pm with no pain meds but the ingredients is still Benedryl.

Refrigerator broke have a repairman coming today. I'am going to also tackle my kitchen. I'll round up the troops to do the lifting and mopping.

I'am kinda being a freak about lifting and stuff. I had so much scar tissue removed and it was attatched to everything that I dont lift, push or pull anything. I don't even open heavy doors let someone else do that for me. I just don't want another surgery to remove more scar tissue.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day! Have a great weekend all.

Simply,
Again, let's us know how it goes. I don't know y my stomach is upset the last couple of days. I mean, like cramping before I go to the bathroom. Hopefully, it is just temporary. Before the constipation for a year, now too many BMs. Tums do help.

E,
Shoot, you said you didn't go to eat. That was a lot of food......LOL I guess it is normal to have some discomfort after a big day like that. You are still going through recovery.

gemini,
I guess it was better this time, since I did it the first time out of curiousity at 4 wks. This time was right at the 6 wk mark. I am still nervous with the BF and not ready yet. He is 6'1, 230 and big, if you know what I mean.

Scar Tissue, Over Here?

Cherry,
Welcome! We haven't met yet. But I have adhesions, or at least, I did. Starting to worry again, but I am going to pray on it and keep it moving. I do not want another surgery. Hopefully, my tummy is just traumatized. So people have no idea that they have scar tissue because they have no symptoms.

Setrima,
I am scared to death of adhesions (scar tissue) since it has been removed twice. Probably from my c-section in 88. My dr. is thinking that I should be fine now, since he removed the adhesive ovary. My tummy is still swollen under my navel and maybe that is normal, maybe not. I know when I have adhesions that are problematic I have upset stomach. Please tell me I am just tripping. Tummy trouble just started this week.

Bopper,
Yeap, only 2 wks left for this thread. We will have to just move the party to sister's chat 9-16. I have come to look forward to sharing and chatting too.

Male Doctors!

Ladies,
Let me explain. I don't want you guys to think that I am hating on men. I only go to male drs. the last 7-8 yrs. Prior, I preferred a woman. When I started having female problems in 03, I went to several GYN's till I found one that would help me. One female dr. told me it was all in my head. I never felt that comfortable with her little hands anyway. I was p*ssed to say the least and couldn't believe that a woman, that was middle aged would say such a thing to me. From then on, my choice has and will always be a man. I just made a statement in an earlier post that men cannot physically understand what we are going through and I would always be the last appt.
Some men drs., I think sometimes, forget that we are much softer and less physical than they are. Obviously, if my GYN (surgeon) told me I could start doing crunches at my last post-op. I don't think a female surgeon would say that. Now, my regular GYN, that I will prob go back to, he can sit in his office all day. That is y I am his 1st appt. He keeps all his people forever.....LOL
I def wouldn't want a female surgeon. I know, that is sexist.....

Forgetfulness

Don't worry Elefante about missing your exit, yesterday I backwashed the pool, then set it on rinse, started to do something else in the yard then went inside becauise its so so so hot and muggy here in Ohio, watched a little Oprah then decided to go back out and bag up the weeds I pulled, to see that ALOT of water had drained out of the pool, I never took it off rinse ! ! ! ! Can't wait to see my water bill LOL. Doc said some forgetfulness is normal so we can only wait and see.

Hot Flashes

Sisters, just a word or three about hot flashes. I went through menopause "naturally" so the decrease in hormones was more gradual. I experienced hot flashes but found it possible to live through them without HRT. Your experience is no doubt different, but I do urge you to not jump too quickly to HRT because there are associated dangers, especially for those with a family history of breast cancer (like me). This is a very personal decision and I'm not trying to talk anbody out of HRT if it's necessary, but not everybody needs it. Good luck...and you haven't lived until you've been in an important meeting and you suddenly turn beet red and feel like your internal furnace has just been turned up to 120 degrees. Now I know why, even in my Canadian winters, 50-something ladies wear short sleeves under a jacket.

set back

Hi All,
Went to the Dr today to find out what the problem is with the pain on my bottom.
After talking with me for 15 minutes(I love this DR) he did a vag exam. Took swabs for infections and gave a urine sample. The entire appointment lasted almost an hour. He was only out of the room for 5 minutes. Great bedside manner.

All body parts seem to be anotomical correst. If it is a rectocele it is not a large one. He said I am on the slowest end of his patients on the healing end tho. He said the bacterial infection has set me back. I have to see him in 4 weeks again and if i am still swullen and feeling pain, he is going to schedule some other tests. Ultasounds(to see if there could be a small cyst on the ovary that he missed) and other tests to find rectocele/enterocele,etc.He said he could feel no obvious adhesions
Said walking is fine, he wished more patients were as active as I but said that is the only exercise he will allow until I go back in.
He also took a urine sample aand I will find out those results soon.

Prayers needed for my friend tho. Her surgery lasted 4 hours. They did a complete hysterectomy, appendectomy, gall bladder removed, and part of her colon. They do not know what kind of cancer it is yet, won't know for a week.
I am setting up a meal schedule for the week when she comes home.

My son (21) informed us today he is moving back home after being out on his own for a year. College student.
I have to go get his room ready!

SimplyMe, you seem to have a grrrrrrrrrrreat doctor. Does your slow recovery mean no return to work for at least another 4 weeks? I hope your son's presence will be more of a help than a hindrance. Many prayers and positive thoughts sent to your friend.
I must be getting mentally ready for a return to work because I actually cleaned my fridge today for lack of anything better to do! This hasn't been done since pre-op and is the sort of thing I can usually easily ignore.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Bopper, I also had started into menopause a few years ago. I had the dry hot flashes. They were bearable and had actually been tapering off. I had decided then I wouldn't use HRT unless necessary. My symptoms weren't as bad as some women I know. I thought maybe sense I had passed that hurdle, it wouldn't be as bad after the surgery. But the hot fashes have come back... worse... and with sweat. I noticed the drooling is back too. (Anyone have that problem?) But they are still bearable so far, and since my GYN won't put me on HRT til I get my BP & pulse under control I probably won't worry about it. My mother on the other hand suffered miserably after her hysterectomy. After a year of this, I finally said "Mom, What is your quality of life? Is it worth all this suffering to reduce the risk this tiny bit? (TAH/BSO Large fibroid, precancer cells on cervix 1992)" She did the hormones. And that is the question we have to ask ourselves. What is our quality of life? Like you said every woman is different. For some it is just a bump in the road, for others, it is pure torture. We just have to figure out where we fall in between. The thing to consider too, is they only let us have them for a limited number of years.
