AshleyLuz.......how wonderful that your path report was good. I'm happy for you. It's interesting, too, the 'no heavy lifting' part. I will be interested in seeing what the doc says. I've probably destroyed my innards the past two weeks. Congrats! And again........more congrats! P.S. If I get okay'd for sex, I don't have a BF either.....just a married one who is always bugging me if you get the drift. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Take care and thanks for letting us know how the appt went. Glad it didn't hurt or anything.

I still have the big belly too. I didn't lose any weight at all. And now I have pain on the left side, started this past weekend. Before it was only tender when I touched that area. I don't know what it could be. My ovary? Who knows. So those of you worried about the big belly, I think it must be normal. I know I have been eating alot, which doesn't help. I'm really going to have to think about weight watchers again.

I hope I don't sound ignorant. But what is a cuff? My doctor never mentioned it. I had my cervix and uterus removed. Kept my ovaries and had an abd. incision. I didn't get an internal exam at my 5 1/2 post op. This was my only appt.

ByFaith.........where are you having it done? Mine was at North Memorial. I hope it goes gently/easily. I was 'awake' for mine..........the medicine for the hysterectomy that put me to sleep reminded me totally of the colonoscopy. In fact, that was the last thing I remember saying, that the meds were very similar and reminded me of it except my head spun around at the colonoscopy and there was no spinning when I went 'out' for my surgery!

Take care. Sleep well tonite. I am almost ready for bed. W/all the kids OUT of this house at the moment I actually planned out a lesson for tomorrow for one class. Hooray.

What age are we suppose to have a colonoscopy?
Sorry about the hyster sister who had to put her cat to sleep. We had to put our cat to sleep last year, she was 19.
I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
I went back to going to the bathroom all morning again yesterday and today. I thought the hysterectomy and getting those two big fibroids out would take care of that. I don't know what's up. I also have a pain on my left side. When I went for my post op a week and a half ago, I asked for a urine test to see if I had an infection and I didn't. That is why I am hesitating to call the doctor again.

I'm not sure about a cuff, but for ex., in my surgery, my OB said he had to cut away part of the vaginal area to remove the cervix and so I think he fashioned, probably a nice 'cuff' and stitched the skin together after removing other parts of the vaginal wall. Maybe folded it over and stitched it together? I too worry about whether it's an ovary or scar tissue that is 'knotting' up on me. Well maybe I will find out Friday.

I just googled 'vaginal cuff' and lo and behold hystersisters came up w/a post that explains it very nicely!

The pain might be scar tissue or ??? I think you should call bec. I myself can't wait to ask about the pains I have and get.

Colonoscopy: a lot of docs require it when you hit the 5-0. I somehow got away with it.........I had a 'flex' test instead that is much 'easier' (** ** ugh) and one can drive herself to/from the appt., etc. as no anesthesia is used for the flex.

So I had 'flex' test at 50 and then colonoscopy at 55. If you don't have polyps or anything (I didn't) I think I'm free from another one for ten years. Yahoo. Wish I could wait ten years for each pap. ** **. But then I'd be in trouble just like this year when all those bad cells were found.

Anyway, that's the scoop on when colonoscopies are usually done. If you DO have polyps or something then they make you do it much more regularly.

Take care .. E.
