No the catheder does't hurt. It straps to my leg, I can't stand it!, but if it helps will the healing process with my bladder I will deal with it. I think I would have came out with fllying colors if it was only the TAH, buy the tear in my bladder really throw me a curve ball. I am feeling really good considering. I'm not tired or do I have much pain. I took a pain pill today a few hours ago
because my incision was a little sore. They stitched me up once and cut in the same area 3 days later.(Bikini cut) I am hoping it will make me sleep too, I am wide awake.

Have sweet dreams all!

had my hysterectomy on july 11th

hi. I tried to start a new thread, but I'm not good at this, am pretty much computer illiterate, so forgive me.

I have an 8" bikini scar. The tape from surgery still hasn't fully fallen off.

I"m not in any pain, but I am still uncomfortable. I have been walking a bit since the day after surgery. I've never really been in any pain, just discomfort.

I'm doing ok gas wise. Haven't had to take a gas-x in days, although my stomach is still huge (is that normal??)

I had everything taken out, a total hysterectomy. I have a little discharge, its clear, so wear a panty liner.

guess my biggest issue is I am sooo tired. taking a shower exhausts me. its been 2 weeks today since my surgery and I still can't sleep in my bed. I've been sleeping in the recliner in the living room. It hurts my stomach to lie down in my bed, even w/a pillow under or around my stomach.
Is this normal??

My doctor signed me out of work for 8 weeks, so don't have to go back till Sept. I"m glad because I'm just not up to it.
I can't believe how little energy I have and how easily I get tired.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for any advise.
Sorry I didn't know how to start a new thread.

E, No my dad is not a dr. He is retired from the P.O. as a Motor Vehicle Operator. He is just strange and finds it educational. My video doesn't have any sound or talking. My son thought at first, it would be a DVD and he was looking for deleted scenes.

Again, take it easy. I think that you are walking a little too much. I am just starting to drive again with the small pillow in front. It is becoming more comfortable now. I still feel some discomfort in the diaphram area now more so than that right side I have been talking about. I ran into a parent of my son's when he was in HS. She said that I looked great. I didn't even mention the surgery and she said that she was coming from kickboxing and was tired. She even said that it looks like I haven't changed since last year (weight wise) since our kids grad. Boy, did that make me feel good. I don't know the #s on the scale yet, but obviously I look the same to her. My belly is going down, slowly and most of my clothes are fitting again. I still wear the elastic capris or shorts and dresses. I don't wont to zip up anything around my tummy yet even though I just have those 4 sites (I thought till today they were 3) but there is 1 under my navel too.

Ok'd to drive

I had my two week post-op follow up appt today. Doc ok'd me to drive and do moderate exercise (no abdominals obviously) Still no lifting and watch the bending too.

I am to return in 4 weeks for my internal exam and discuss HRT.

My doc is so cool he has a tattoo, wears a diamond earring and denim scrubs. He laughs at my jokes too. No extra charge for that.

I am taking motrin 800 mg twice a day. And half an ambien at night. Oddly, I have the most pain upon waking in the morning. I guess lying down for 6-8 hours taxes the abdominals? Also, I can feel my sutures at the site of my ovaries and uterus.

One more week and I can remove the steristrips. Still not really able to wear anything with too tight of a waist. Mostly draw string pants and loose fitting capris, etc. I still just wear a nightgown around the house so as not to irritate my incision site.

Wishing all good things to all of you!

Poohlady759: your exhaustion and big belly can be very normal as you heal. I still have a belly (always did, but this one isn't 'suckable inable') and my surgery was July 9. And after my doctor admired his handiwork at my 2 week check yesterday.... i had a lot of spotting and a LOT of cramping last nite. Maybe it's from overdoing it as jennice41 alludes to above in her email. Maybe. I did not sleep very well last night and I thought I would because of my good pathology report. Guess my woes still keep me up at night. But it was interesting how much last nite's cramps reminded me of the first week post-op. Hmmmmmm. Otherwise, I'm progressing okay. I will try to take it easier today. ** **. Here I am up at 5 as usual, typing at 6 as usual and about to shower and get in a little walking before the heat and humidity get too oppressive.........have a good Thursday everybody. I'll check in later. If my cramping gets too bad I'll hit the iboprophen for the first time in over a week and a half! E.

RooksScoobs: I hope you did have a good sleep. Did your bladder get injured during surgery or was it injured prior? Yes, you are a brave woman. I still can't imagine having a catheter tethered to me all this time since July 9. Wow. You deserve a medal or plaque or something. I hope, as Phillipians446 said, that you got some sleep/rest last night. I had a lot of cramping after my little visit to the doctor. Ouch. It almost felt like week one rather than three. Hopefully my tummy/stitches/whatever is cramping will calm down today. Everyone have a decent Thursday.............E.

Hi PoohLady,

Yes I believe it is normal to be so tired, I feel the same way. I do a little walking or take a shower and I need to lay down and rest. I suppose its our bodies way of telling us to slow down, heal, and pamper ourselves.

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on July 10th, I had the staples removed on the following Thursday, the doc then applied steri-strips, I was wondering if anyone knows if its alright that I removed them about 4 days later, they were beginning to come loose due to my showers?

My belly is also still very swollen, going to do some online shopping today for some elastic waist clothing ! Its also very sensitive to touching it feels like it is brusied and tender.

Believe it or not, I still have my steri-strips (a series of 10) in place from my surgery of 7/10 (TAH/LSO-RS - which means everything but right ovary) and my doctor said to leave them alone - to allow them to fall off by themselves even if they become loose. I would make a quick phone call to your doctor to get his advise.

I'm also one of the swelly belly girls! Tried in vain to get into 5 pairs of trousers today, even a draw string pair but to no avail.

My tummy still feels very tender and bruised as well, but all to be expected. I cannot believe I am now 16 days post op, time has gone quickly!

Just received a delivery of magazines from UK (they are hard to get here in Bahrain) so my afternoon is the sofa and magazines - bliss!!

I was warned that the swelly belly could last 6 months, dire!! Cannot return to work until my clothes fit me!!!!!

Take care everyone and have a good day of pampering! xxxxx
