Pain management before surgery

I know births take priority - but she could have found three seconds to ask another doctor to call me. Or call that night as she promised. Today, the nurse called with some BS story about how the doc was monitoring my treatment closely (ha ha ha) and would call me tonight.

She didn't call. Again.

I am calling tomorrow and asking to have my case switched to the other doctor who is assisting with the surgery.

I don't ask to be the most important patient she has. But I'd like to feel that I was something other than an inconvenience or an interruption to her "real" patients. Any doctor who could let a patient spend half a day in the hospital and show zero interest in what's going on has no business with that patient. Because I am a patient. Just as real as the others.

Women had babies for many years without medical intervention. Women in my condition died without it.

I need a doctor who will do more than throw motrin at me and forget I exist, even when I'm calling and sobbing and begging for help. A two minute call to a pharmacy. A message sent... even via a janitor... that she is in delivery and can't help. Anything.

I'm glad she's having the joy of doing what she loves, and I'm sorry she has these boring gynecological cases thrown at her. But this is my life, my health, my body. I can't trust this flibbertyjibbit with it.

She is fired.
