Scheduled Feb 19..so scared

I was in the hospital for two nights: had the surgery on a wednesday and got out Friday afternoon. I totally understand your concerns. I found out in October and cried for days. However, once I accepted it and moved forward it really wasn't bad. I'm a single mom so my mom had to fly out to help with the kids for a few days, but she is gone now and we are hanging in there. You will be moving slowly, but you will be on your way to healthy which is the goal. I wish you the best!

How long were you in the hospital?

The biggest reason to get your room set up is if you need to stay in it--for example, our kitchen level doesn't have a bathroom, and so I knew I would be stuck in the bedroom until dinner time (access to food or bathroom--not a hard choice!) So that meant everything I needed to eat or use needed to be on that level. If you can be on one level with your food, icepacks and bathroom, you'll be much more independent.
I too showered in the hospital, and every day thereafter. I've used motrin regularly and percoset for about 10 days. But, using them, I mostly have felt ok, except for sneezing, coughing, or getting in and of bed, which is something you need to be taught and be careful. And walking really helped.
Everyone is different of course but really and truly, after the first 6 hours I was in much less pain than before the surgery (when I was basically having 4-6 hours of labor contractions a day.)

For my supracervical abdominal hospital, I was in for 3 days--originally insurance approved 2 days but we got it extended. That made it much easier becaue of the pain meds through the IV and the hospital bed which makes it easier to get in and out of bed.

I don't have any daily pain..but that sounds truly terrible...I like the idea of the pain meds at the hospital better than motrin..LOL
