How much do you need to takeoff
Do you have to strip to nothing in the hospital and if so when can you wear underwear? I'm not used to going commando.I know this is a weird question but this is new for me.

How much do you need to takeoff
The only thing that they let me keep on was my socks! They gave me a hospital gown. You can wear panties again when you get up and start walking and moving around. You might be uneasy about going without panties, but it does make things alot easier when they check you for bleeding and such.

How much do you need to takeoff
Everything came off and they gave me some blue slippers to wear... I used two hospital gowns, one worn the "normal way" and one worn the opposite way like a robe so there wouldn't be any, ahem, "breeze" in the back . In all honesty, I didn't wear undies for weeks after surgery, because I had a tummy binder and drains coming out of my lower abdomen for several weeks, and underwear was just too much bother.
It is a weird thing for me, too -- and don't feel strange asking. It's the only way to find out.

when i had D&C i got to keep my socks LOL
i got those lovely mesh panties with a pad after surgery when i woke up....already on me>>>HMMM bet that was fun LOL
anyway....i think its just easier for the drs when you get on that table you dont have to drop them in front of all the people in the room cuz they are already off and the dr doesnt have to fight with them after you are sleepin either. i dont usually go commando either...so i was glad to wake up to the meshies LOL

How much do you need to takeoff
I had to take everything off, and put on a hospital gown, blue slippers, if you can call them that lol and a blue shower cap thing on my head, I woke up in my room with a cath, no panties, but did have a pad to catch the small amount of bleeding I had...the morning after, the nurse took out the cath helped me to the bathroom, then helped me put on the mesh panties and a pad...then about 11am another nurse came in helped me bathe and put on my night gown and panties...
Its not so bad really..I hope this helps you alittle!
you will be fine, just another thing to put up with...
I still sleep with out panties since Im not bleeding I dont like anything rubbing around my tummy, and anyways noone can see under my gowm and robe! LolI say do what ever makes you feel better after suregery!
good luck!

How much do you need to takeoff
hi I kept pants ( and glasses) until moved onto trolley just outside anaesthetic room. Woke up without any but Iam a LARGE lady, others had mesh pants put on whilst still asleep. If it worries you ask if you can keep them on until asleep. Good luck

no need to worry!
I hate going commando too and was very worried about this aspect of things before I went in. I need not have worried! I had to wear white anti embolism stockings and a large hospital gown (only) for the operation. I woke up wearing mesh granny pants, pad and catheter. after that I had some help with my first shower (I felt happier with that) and I wore my own pants and bra under my own night clothes after that. (By the way the catheter does not hurt at all coming out). I was very happy with how that aspect of things went, no one pressurised me to do anything I would have been unhappy with. It might be worth bringing in some paper mesh panties with you in case your particular hospital does not provide them.
I hope all goes well for you.

How much do you need to takeoff
No panties allowed here. I had to strip and put on the hospital gown, Ted sox from thighs to toes, lovely non-skid sox on top of that, and head thingy. Afterward I woke up with the same gear plus tons of warm blankies, so who cares.
I think they forgot to put on my mesh panties with a pad. By the time I thought to ... eehmmm ... check out things down south I had bled all over the huge square pad that was under me. Since my gown was stained I asked for a quick clean up and some my new undies and an enormous pad (from home).
In hindsight it probably would have been best to have bought dark colored panties. I went home with the cath and sometimes the drainage would follow along the little tube. Okay TMI.
Also, while we are on the subject, I took the advice of many and got cotton panties one size larger (L instead of M) so that they would be comfortable during all of the swelling. (Guess cotton is important so that everything breathes.) They were fine except that the elastic around the legs cut into my incisions. I had a bladder sling, which required short cuts on either side of the inside of my legs. No stitches, just some kind of glue to hold them together. Trust me, I didn't ask. But definitely ouchy with rubbery elastic digging in ... as I slid down the plastic mattress.
Moral of the story - I would not recommend Victoria Secret granny panties. Look for a brand that has cotton covered elastic.
