I truly wish you luck, but I still question your doctor's judgement.

He/she's the doctor......

Re: Resuming sex to early.. Really , whats the deal???

I don't want to risk it and injure myself more. Nothing in Vagina for 8 weeks, saw Dr yesterday and because my stiches around bladder are not healed another 2 weeks. I will wait because the horror stories of not waiting are much worse. I had Dvh and internally it is the same as any other hysterectomy. Its like going back to work to soon. I rather be safe and healthy than back to work and risking my health and repair. I am all for just a liitle fooling around and no penetration. To angie 30 if you wait the cuff will heal properly and you won't have any problems so don't worry about it. Follow your Dr's orders and you will be fine.

Re: Resuming sex to early.. Really , whats the deal???

TAH-BSO 2/7 - I'm 3 weeks post op today and last week my doctor cleared me for sex - but there's no way. lol...I would be too uncomfortable right now no matter what position I were in, and I know husband is afraid of hurting me - so we'll wait. I'm curious, sure, but even taking matters into my own hands (ahem) right now isn't something I want try just yet.

Dr. said if i DID do it, that I had to be on top, thus controlling the situation. He said husband could only go 1/2 way in - no thrusting!! (I speak very little french - dr. speaks very little english - this was all communicated with a series of hand gestures and charades - it was pretty funny).

frankly, I'm too darn HOT to have sex right now - and not hot as in sexy-hot...hot as in....HOT. just sitting here typing I'm working up a sweat. Worried that between perpetual sogginess and big scary underwear, husband may be put off for good!! lol

Re: Resuming sex to early.. Really , whats the deal???

My doctor said 8 weeks, but I had my cervix removed. It's tough waiting, and she said not to even THINK sexual thoughts (which is hard for me--I'm like a 15 year old boy! LOL). We're only married 1 year, so this is definitely a little roadblock, but we're gonna plan a romantic night/date for when we get the go-ahead. I can't wait!!!

Re: Resuming sex to early.. Really , whats the deal???

I'm guilty and admit it. My doc said 10 weeks. We had sex at about 6 and it was a little painful at first but no bleeding or anything. We took it very slow and easy and have only done it twice. I'm back to work, have no pain, no discharge and I was dying of curiousity as everything is "tightened up" down there. I know, I know, there's no excuse. *sigh*

Hi Angie30
Sorry this may seem like a silly question but why do you wish you could have kept your cervix, have you experienced anything different without it?? Also what worries you about the vaginal cuff? This should heal in time and be perfectly normal.

I hope it heals in time and I don't have any issues with it. It's just nervewracking to me to know the cuff could open. Yuck. Lol I am 5 weeks post op so doctor says its healing nicely. I will probably wait an extra few weeks for sex even if I'm cleared though. Just to be sure.

Re: Resuming sex to early.. Really , whats the deal???

I was worried about having sex at 6 weeks, then when my doctor said I could at 4, I just couldn't believe it. My husband and I did very carefully, but I probably would have felt better if we would have waited. Even now, 8 months out, things still seem different. It takes a long time, at least for me, to get use to this new normal. I am still a little nervous of hurting anything in there. I hope I can adjust to this soon.
