24 yrs old w/ endo, told I need a LAVH - unsure (pregnancy mentioned)

I am 24 yrs old and have SEVERE endo and adeno. i have been to hell and back w/ treatment and NOTHIGN has worked, including a lap... i'm on hormones and pain killers and i was to live a normal live again... i was told yerterday that the last treatment is LAVH... we really wanted to try for a baby girl, but cannot afford it right now and are not ready (as i have a 3 and 1 yr old) i don tknow if'm i'm ready to do this! i'm torn between loosing my parts and deperatly wanting the chance to have a little girl (i have 2 boys) HELP!! :-( I'M FEELING REALLY DOWN, LONLEY, SAD, ANXIOUS, SCARED....
i guess i shoudl also add that I am an elite athlete (marathon runner) and my plan was to run in the detroit marathon this fall and run in the boston marathon in april... I am surrenting training for the women's marathon olympic trials for 2012

I am so sorry to hear about your problems. I am a big believer in listening to your body and waiting till your ready to accept the results of your decision. Recovery is hard and you have to be at peace with your decision and know it was the last/final decision. Self doubt will still creep in but is easier to squash when you remember why you made the decision. I don't know how you can get relief either though. I am only 31 and just had a TAH/BSO for my severe endo/ando. We have a strong family history and my two sisters are having severe endo symptoms. I am just encouraging them to listen to their bodies and take seriously what it is saying to them. I just knew it was time, and I was right. They aren't sure yet and are exploring other options. Hang in there and we will all be here for you.

You are so young to have to make such a decision. Maybe you should get a second or third opinion.
I know you said that you have been around the block with treatment, but the fact that you want to try to have a girl tells me that you just aren't ready for the consequences of a hysterectomy. I know you want to live a normal life, but you really need to talk to your Dr about what options there are left for you.
After reading your post, I am concerned about you jumping into something that you don't want to do, and regretting it for the rest of your life.
Like Love Math said, listen to your body! Endo is the total pitts, but doing something you're not ready for can be devastating!
We are here for you day and night. Good luck no matter what decision you make. I really hope things work out for you.

Hugs,
Cat

(((Encoreathletics)))) Have you gotten a second opinion? If not, then I highly recommend it. Maybe the next doctor will have another suggestion for you. Make sure you tell the doctor about your desire for one more child.

(((hugs)))

BTW, I had LAVH June 18th. If you have any questions, please ask. (You may want to know that I am 44 and childless partially by choice, partially by chance).

24 yrs old w/ endo, told I need a LAVH - unsure (pregnancy mentioned)

i guess i should have included that I have seen approx 5 dr.s about this. one being from the university of Michigan. he is one of the best dr. in the country about this... and he has been working w/ my regular OB/GYN abd they came tho this conclusion. I feel helpless. I called my dr yesterday to ask he if would be willing to try another LAP (had one in Oct. but it flared everythign up 100 times worse) before doing the LAVH. I havent hear back yet... maybe i should just be grateful i have 2 healthy boys...
There are somday i just don't even want to get out of ben. b/c of the pain and b/c of the helplessness. It has made me quite depressed, and i do take medicine for that..... i had my 1st son at 20 yrs old (unexpected) nd when i got pregnant i lost all of my "friends" so on top of all these feeling I dont have any friends to talk to other than my fabulous husband..

I wish i wasn't so upset about this. I guess b/c i have been through so much over the last 5 yrs or so.. have my 1st baby unexpected, not being able to go to med school b/c of it, loosing my job, getting married and then having my 2nd baby, it's been a roller coaster of emotions and all happened so fast. if i were a little older i gues sit owuldnt be so upsetting, but what if we really wanted that chance to try for another baby in 4-5 yrs? this will end it indefinatly, no going back... i feel like it would be taking my life away!
