strange rash after last operation... who to tell?

Hey ya'll!
I am a little less than two weeks out now, could NOT get here soon enough!!

I had a strange issue with my last lap, which I am about 6 weeks out of. Well first, I had an issue with my stitches not dissolving, and my skin had almost pushed them out by the time I saw her.

In correlation with that, one week post-op, I had a very strange rash all over my chest, not extending past, say like wearing a tank top. They were tiny, tiny pimples, almost. They itched like crazy and hurt too. I called the nurse, who suspected a reaction with the stitches, and perhaps something in the EKG stickies. I showered from day one and was very clean. But, why one week after the fact?

Anyone else get a rash?

Who do I need to tell in pre-op next week? Thanks!

Re: strange rash after last operation... who to tell?

Tell your doctor before the surgery. I'd even call this week and let them know ahead of time so they have time to figure out what you're allergic to.

I have really bad allergies and take shots weekly. Usually the tiny pimple like bumps are caused by something internal (food, medicine, internal stitches, etc.). Your doctor may want you to get allergy tested for a few things before your surgery. You may need to check and see if you have a latex allergy.

Agreed. Talk to your doctor about that. The definitely need to know.
