Re: Hysterectomy and bladder sling

My doc did the Burch method on me for my bladder tack. I didn't want anything foregin in me. But that was my personal preference. He gave me the option. I had a TAH which made it easier to do the procedure for the bladder and I've not had any problems except for a lil pain during the first week or so when I'd go pee. Now when I cough, LOL or sneez it's not a problem! Haven't had the chance to try out running yet but I think that won't be an issue either. It's just an extra place that needs to heal along with everything else. I'm glad I had both done!!

Re: Hysterectomy and bladder sling

I had my bladder sling and my hyster along with other repairs at the same time. I had two surgeons: my urologist/gyno did my bladder sling and prolapse repairs and my gyno did my hysterectomy. I was in the hospital 2 nights and recovered with no major problems. I only had a catheter for the first day. I was able to urinate on my own, although it was slow going at first. Expect to be sore for a few weeks and be sure to take it easy..no lifting! my surgery was in January and it was the best decision I ever made. I got my quality of life back! No more leaking urine or pelvic pain..good luck & healing hugs to you !!

Re: Hysterectomy and bladder sling

I got bladder sling nd robotic hysterectomy with other repair same time. I won't Kid you. When you have all that done don't be surprised if you can't pee. I tried for 6 hours after I woke up from surgery needed to go home with catheter for 4 days. It was rough for me as I was not told this was a possibility. Just be prepared. It really was not a big deal but I panicked and obsessed about peeing and ended up in emergency room three days after cath came out. It has all turned out ok and I'm on he mend. Have sneezed and not a drop looking forward to running/jumping etc. good luck.

Re: Hysterectomy and bladder sling

I had a bladder sling with my hysterectomy. It was the best thing I could have done. I had a 6 week bout of bronchitis April-May and could barely leave the house. I can cough or sneeze with no issues, thank goodness!!!

I had no problems urinating after surgery. No need to have a catheter in when I went home. My aunt had a bladder sling done a year or two ago and had no issues.

Good luck to you!
