laproscopic to full abdominal hysterectomy switch during surgery ?

I am supposed to TLAH on the 19th. My surgeon said she may have to switch to an abdominal during surgery depending on the size of my fibroids and scar tissue from previous myo. Has anyone else experienced this? What happened? How did it go?

My doc told me the same thing. I think it's pretty standard that they tell you upfront rather than you go in expecting one thing and come out with another. I do believe they do try their best to do it laparoscopically, but if it's too difficult than they have to resort to whatever method is best at that moment. Good luck

I went into my surgery knowing there was the chance of conversion.I had a previous vertical c-section. I trusted my surgeon to make the best choice. My surgery ended up taking longer as my uterus was massive. At the end my uterus needed to be cut so it could be removed vaginally. Along with this had six small key hole incisions.
