Any Opinion On Lavh Vs. Tvh - Mood Swings

THE DATE IS SET! FEB. 23RD! PRE-OP VISIT IS 2/16. ONE OF MY QUESTIONS FOR DOC IS LAVH VS. TVH. SHE HAS SCHEDULED ME FOR TVH. JUST WONDERED IF ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER. I'M ALSO GOING TO ASK TO KEEP CERVIX AS I AM ABLE TO KEEP OVARIES.

HAS ANYONE THAT HAS KEPT OVARIES EXPERIENCED THEIR HORMONES BEING MORE IN CHECK? LESS TO NONE REGARDING MOOD SWINGS?? MY HYST IS DUE TO LARGE FIBROIDS, HEAVY PERIODS, ETC. BUT ALSO MY MOOD SWINGS ARE UNBEARABLE, I'M HOPING THEY WILL CEASE AFTERWARDS.

I'm having my surgery on feb. 14th, and I also plan on asking my
dr the samething, she has planned a tvh. and to me it seems if
I have a lavh they would be able to see in the area a lot better.

I'm having a LAVH on February 7th. My gyn told me he prefers this procedure because he can get a lot better view of what is going on in there. BUT some GYN's may not be comfortable with the LAVH, so you may have to ask if your GYN even does that procedure. Best wishes!

From my understanding the cervix is removed with both a TVH and a LAVH. You might want to discuss it further with your Dr.

I kept my ovaries and I am now 9 1/2 months post op. My ovaries are working great and no significant mood swings.

It is my understanding from reading the posts on here that you can not keep your cervix when having a vaginal hysterectomy. I am having a LAVH on the 28th of Feb. I know that all doctors can not do this procedure. I would definitley ask my dr if he could because it would make sense that he would be able to see better inside of you. Lot of luck with your surgery. Let me know how it turns out.

I am scheduled for a TVH on 2/22 and was told that they have to take the cervix too, and I am keeping my ovaries. I didn't even ask about a LAVH. Either way I am just glad that it will be over soon. Good luck to you since you are going in the day after me.
