Tucks Pads?

Did anyone have to use Tucks Pads after an LAVH?

Tucks Pads?

For what?
I have used them for their actual purpose. It makes your "lower area" feel better.
Did you have to use them for something else?

Tucks Pads?

I used them after I have a baby to help with the episiotomy. Do you have an episiotomy with an LAVH?

Tucks Pads?

I may be wrong, but I think the witch hazel in them helps swelling, and sort of takes the soreness away. I have used them for hemorrhoids and after the birth of my babies. I also had a vaginal hysto, and yes, I had stitches at the base of my vagina-- when I went back at two weeks to the urologist (because I also had a bladder suspension done at the same time as my hysto) I ASKED him, "did I have an episiotomy with this hysterectomy, because it sure as heck FEELS like it!" and he said that all those stitches are pretty much the same thing... so it may not be an actual episiotomy, but just about.

Tucks Pads?

Funny you mention episiotomies--I've always had this one spot, where the doc put a stitch after my first child, that hurts and itches every now and then. That one spot has flown up again just since surgery.

Guess I need to get some Tucks again.

Tucks Pads?

I used them (well, the store brand) when I was doing the bowel prep. Wonderful things.

Tucks Pads?

My roommate in the hospital had all sorts of pain and swelling with her rectum, the poor thing. Her hyster was TAVH with other repairs, and yes, they brought her Tucks pads to help with the swelling and pain.

You might not need the docs approval on that, but discuss it prior in case you're thinking you could. The nurses are really good about details like that.

Best of luck.

Tucks Pads?

Wet Ones makes a wipe that has aloe and witch hazel that helps tremendously after bowel movements post-op.

Tucks Pads?

Fleet pain relief wipes are even more effective than the other brands for that nasty bowel prep irritation or their intended purpose (which unfortunately plague many of us post op ). I'd hesitate to wipe the area with anything if you have an incision there, because of the possibility of spreading germs as you do, but my castle gave me a can of Dermaplast spray (lovely cooling stuff; also available at major drugstores) which contains a little local anesthetic. Ask your DR before using anything on an area with an incision please!
