Hi,
Thank-you for your card of well wishes, unfortunatley my surgery was cancelled due to an outbreak of the Norwalk virus. I'm thankful that they found out about the virus ahead of my surgery! I'm re-scheduled for February 4th, I feel lucky that it wasn't pushed back too far.

Sorry your surgery got cancelled, but so glad you are not exposed to virus in hospital.

What are the symptoms of Norwalk virus? Is it like the flu we have in the states?

I too am glad your surgery wasn't put off for too long.

My understanding is the Norwalk virus is a really high-powered sort of intestinal upset -- vomiting, fever, and that sort of stuff. It is a 24 to 48-hour sort of virus.

You are indeed fortunate not to be exposed to it!

Oh, I am so sorry that your surgery was cancelled. I read about that in the newspaper. I was terrified that mine would be canclled b4 I went in, as there was an outbreak of that also. It did not affect me, however as two other hospitals were the Emerg. at my hospital was so busy. I ended up getting transfered to another hospital less than 24 hours post op. Went by ambulance with another patient. Not much fun. Poor man, he was throwing up the whole way there. Ugh. I thought that my stomach was going to open up. I did survive. Feb. 4 will be here b4 you know it. I know that is not much help now. Do something special for yourself this weekend. Take care.

I'm sorry about the postponment. It is good that you're not being exposed to that nasty virus. I hope that all will go well and the next date works for you. Waiting can be soooo nerve wracking.

Sorry about your cancellation. But you do need to be safe and healthy for the 4th. I'm praying all goes well for you then.
