My best friend says her sex life is soooo much better after her hysterectomy because now she has no pain. It is a big concern of mine also. However, I know I can't go on being anemic and homebound for days because of heavy bleeding. I too have at time had second thoughts as I have been scheduled for 3 months. Just remember you are in the drivers seat and you make the decisions regarding where you are going. Keep gathering info. and praying. YOu will make the right decision! Take care.

Hi! Each of us are unique individuals, with different circumstances. Depending on your quality of life now and your medical situation, you may be able to find an alternative to a hyst, if you do not feel completely comfortable with having surgery at this time. I will say a hyst was the right choice for me, and even though it was necessary for me to have my cervix removed along with my uterus, my sex life has not been adversly affected--for myself or my DH.

Best wishes to you as you continue to research and find the right and best decision for you and your situation.

My sex life is great, much better then before. I am very multi orgasmic now and my libido is fantastic.
Take your time and think about weather or not you really want to risk things. No one will be able to tell you for sure you will be fine. Even if you get a 100 posts on this thread saying sex is better for that person, it won't matter if your that one person that has the dysfuntion. It is a gamble you have to be willing to risk. I hear if you keep your ovaries, your chances of dysfuntion are alot less. I have friends who have lost their ovaries and they are doing just fine too.
Good luck with your decision and take your time and do your research.

I was also worried about my sex life afterwards, but for me it has gotten better. It is a gamble that's true.Only you can make the choice what is right for you.I also think some of it has to do with your mind set.If you want it to be good, most likely it will be good.If you want it to be bad, most likely it will be bad.I had some problems after my surgery, but was determined to stay positive. Now my sex life is better than ever!!Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi, Best of luck to you. This is a very big decision and only you know whats right for you. Take your time and discuss this with your Dr. My Dr explained that keeping your Cervix is a good thing because it enhances your sexual pleasure. I hope that helps I never really considered getting rid of mine unless it was necessary. Best wishes to you! Take care! Melanie

I am having the same thoughts. My sex drive really didn't "kick in" until after having my dd in 98 and that is NOT long enough Anyway, I am going to have to go through with the hyst (in 24 days ) My theory is most women I have talked to "in real life" say they felt tons better. Me having some energy and being happy will make my marriage so much better and it may even take awhile to get hormones adjusted, if any problems arise, but I can do my best to work around that. I don't think my dh or myself can deal with the crabby, tired me that I have become much longer

Best of luck deciding what is best for you

It seems like most women have trouble after a hysterectomy. Is this true?
Hmmmmm.....MY marriage was being ruined by my condition! There ARE risks with this surgery. For me, my problems were severe enough to risk it all. THAT is exactly what I did, and I am doing very well. It seems to be from what I've gathered, that if you have a good sex life before, you will after too. It IS different for me, but it is there, and very nice. My pain is gone, and so are all the other problems I had. There were alot too. My only REGRET is that I didn't do this earlier! It's your personal choice though, compare the risks and benefits that suit your circumstance! Only you know what you live with every day! (oh, and dh)!
Good luck.
