Single Moms?

Are there any single moms on the site? I would like to know any ideas on how to get through recovery? I have elderly parents here, who will of course help, but they can't do everything.

Single Moms? How to manage recovery?

Hi

There are many women who are single that have had this surgery, and been able to recover and heal successfully . Here is a link to a thread that offers suggestions from others who have had to go it alone:

I hope this helps you some. Also be sure to look at our Pre-Op and Post-Op Articles for more help.

Single Moms? How to manage recovery?

I am a single mom, too. My 6 yo has become mommy's little helper. Because I knew I was going to have surgery, I took the prior month to train her to take care of herself and help me. I made sure she could bathe herself properly. I put all the "easy foods" down to her level and let her go for it. I taught her how to help Mommy and she did the laundry for me this weekend. (She got so into it that she washed her boots!) How old is/are yours?

Single Moms? How to manage recovery?

I have an 8 year old and she is pretty good with household chores already, so I know she will be a big help those first days when she's not in school! I have a 16 year old also, who lives with her dad a few blocks away. I should be able to get some help from her too, but 16 year olds are.....unpredictable?????....so I'll probably get more help from the 8 year old ; )
