Swelly Belly 11 months post op

Hello to all. I am reaching out to those that are at least 11 months post op to see if you still have the swelly belly, if it goes away, etc. I had lipo many years ago to get rid of my pooch and now it's back. I am not happy about it. Sure, I got rid of a lot of other problems but what once plagued me is now back. I sure hope it goes down, do not want yet another surgery. My pooch was not something I could live with years ago and I don't think I will be able to live with it now. It's gotta go.....Thanks, Sue

Hi SWester

I moved your post from pre-op to post-op, so other post-op ladies can respond.

You may want to call your doctor on this and see if there is something else going on..

Re: Swelly Belly 11 months post op

Hi Sue yes I still have swelly belly 13 months post op though not so swollen mornings as evenings now. Gives me hope it will eventually go down, & the 1.5 stones I put on are diminishing with lots of hard work. Hang in there we Sues may be slow healers but we will oust the swelly belly, it just can't be tolerated any longer.

Re: Swelly Belly 11 months post op

I continued to have swelly belly issues for almost 18 months. In fact, even at almost 2 years post op my belly is still jiggly and swells from time to time. However, I am finding that it is getting better and going down with time. Also, I have about 15 more pounds to lose and hope that as I lose the weight the belly will go with it.

I am willing to live with some swelly belly, as my problems before my surgery were debilitating to the point that I could not function for almost 2.5 weeks out of each month. However, I do plan to keep trying for a while to get it down some more.

One thing I have realized, is that it bothers me more than anyone else. And unless I am wearing something really formfitting no one else even notices.

Re: Swelly Belly 11 months post op

Do you know you're so right! Everyone thinks I got back to normal within about 6 months cos I still look UK size 8 from the front & back, it's just the side view that looks dreadful plus the fact I still can't wear pre op trousers or jeans. I can at last wear size 10 jeans (woo hoo) & there is some definition below my boobs again too so skirts & tighter tops are ok again, but all that took about a year to achieve. I had elective surgery due to family history & losing my beloved sister to ovarian cancer very suddenly; having jiggle in the middle came as a huge shock to someone who always had the profile of a stick insect. Last year was difficult but I do honestly believe the signs are there now that we will eventually get back where we were. I am having to work hard on my diet & exercise to make a difference but it is slowly whittling down. Stick at it, we WILL get there (Lovetheocean you've been

Sometimes it just helps to talk it out! :-) part of why I love this site. I think we all know that our jeans size is not what defines who we are, but boy it can bug us sometimes, huh?

Re: Swelly Belly 11 months post op

Absolutely, & it's actually nice to be less of a jeans kinda gal at the grand old age if 51! Without your words of wisdom, plus Danni, Aces & others, I'd be a broken woman! SWester, did you pile on the pounds too after surgery? I'm sure this contributes to the swelly belly, cos mine isn't gone, but it's less obvious as I slim down
