insurance...sad that they have the piwer
I got a letter today saying that my November surgery has been approved. While I am happy and relieved, I am sad that so many of you have to deal with resubmitting and waiting. Insurance companies should not get the power to decide what is and is not necesary. I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with those of you who have to deal with the insurance.

I agree with you. I was outraged when the insurance company said they would mail me their approval or denial within 3 days. I don't understand how an insurance company thinks they know more about what a person needs than the physician. I agree that there are dishonest people in the world, but this is crazy.
I too was lucky and didn't have issues, it was approved first time around. But I was terrified it was going to be a problem.

Re: insurance...sad that they have the piwer
I am on the other side of this fence. My insurance company, < >, is absolutely fabulous. My surgery is Oct. 27th and they have called me about 8 times in last 2 weeks. I have a 24 hour nurse assigned to me post op so if I have any problems I can call instead of worrying about all the little things and going to ER or back to doc . It kills me to see people being "taken" and thats pretty much what they try to do. When I got hit by a drunk driver, it broke my neck, I had insurance issues and they sent me straight from the TRAUMA unit home....who does that. I will never leave < >, even if I have to pay out of pocket for them.

Do insurance companies really think we'd choose to have a hysterectomy for fun? It really is insane. Mine hasn't been a problem, but it is awful the amount of control some have.
