#1 Anesthesia & #2 Sex

Definatly talk to your a-man, i had nausea with my last back surgury and told him that i REALLY didnt want to be puking after this one. He said no problem that he would give me something to keep the nausea gone! yeah!

as for the sex, im sitting here basking in the glow so to speak!

Hubby and i have been very much more active this last week since we found out when my date was.. next monday.. I did tell him that if he wanted it on the weekend prior, that he wasnt getting any unless he wore a condom since i dont have any prep. (even though im going to douche just in case) i wanted to be clean and not worry about having any "left overs" there for the surgury LOL

I think its pretty normal for the sex drive to ramp up when you know you cant have it for 6 weeks or more!

Hi Max!
Don't ever be embarassed to ask anything here, we are all women in the same leaky boat!
#1. I have a strong stomach and nothing makes me sick, BUT on the day of surgery my 9:30am operation was post-poned for over 6 hours and I had nothing to eat since 4pm the day before, I started to feel nauseas, I told my DR and he said be sure to tell the anesthesiologist when you see him and he will give you something in the IV, I did, and he did. I also had phenergan(anti-nausea med.) in my IV the whole time I was in the hospital to keep the pain meds from making me sick. When I came home I had to take the phenergan in pill form for the first few days till my stomach got all the anesthesia meds out and learned to accept solid food again. They worked great, I could eat anything!
#2. Yes DH and I tried to get in all we could before the operation! It's perfectly normal because we knew it was going to be 6-8 weeks before we could do it again!
I'm now 2 weeks and 2 days post-op and DH could probably add the hours and minutes off the top of his head... The mind is willing, but the body still has stitches and healing to go. I'm substituting #2 with cheesecake today! DH will have a lil more to hold onto at this rate! hang in there, waiting is the hardest part! 's

Yep, I sure did the day of surgery after having an LAVH/BSO with an epidural and once out of recovery and back to my room. Though I don't know if this had to do with the anesthesia or due to the plummeting of my body temperature when they began to feed me either a room temperature IV or a refrigerated one. Which ever the case, it plummeted my body temperature and sent me into hypothermic shock. I was being covered with warm blankets to raise my body temperature and, wanting to remove them at the same time, as I was sweating like a pig. Normally with an epidural you are not supposed to raise your head for 12 hours, as to not get a headache. I don't remember raising my head until I asked for that little kidney shaped barf tray.

I'd give anything to have an orgasm right now, seems I've been wanting it more so since the operation and now have to wait out this time period the deems is appropriate. Though the thought of it does worry me somewhat as to what it will be like once again that it will be wonderful once again.

1) when you go in for surgery, tell the nurse that you get sick from anasthetic and they can put something in your i.v. so that you won't be sick after surgery

(I had a TAH and I can't even imagine what it would be like to be sick after surgery like that!)

2) Don't worry about the sex post suregery gals!! Hubby has to stay away for a good 8 weeks and then for the first couple of times, you have to take things very slowly --- but now I am 6 months post surgery and everythings working just fine!!

It wasn't so much the anethesia...

I've had surgeries before, with general, epidural, and spinals. Never a problem. I think I hold the record in the post-op ward for walking after having a cervical stitch with a spinal! But after my TVH last week, I was sick as a dog. In my head, I knew it wasn't the anethesia, but I didn't know what was wrong.

My angel of a nurse and I finally realized that I was reacting to the pain medication being put in my IV (delauden *sp*). About 30 minutes after each dose - *blech*. We stopped that, switched to another medication, and all was right with the world again!

Good Luck and God Bless!

p.s. I'm not even touching #2; my husband and I had practiced celibacy until we got permission from our priest to have my tubes tied, and with three young kids, who has time/energy anyway?!?

#1 - I have a strong stomach, but anastesia makes me hurl every time. 4 laps, 1 gall bladder & a hyst with appendix, all made me hurt really bad every time I threw up. They tried every med with me to get me not to throw up, but I did anyway. After a day of that, it does get better. It's the fastest way to get the anastesia out of your system, just not the funnest.

#2 - my libido is about the same as it was before hand, but my dr. said it would probably increase once more of my severed nerves were put back together. Also, some of my G spots may have moved in the process too. So now, we are exploring the familiar spots, and looking for others. Gives it a whole new level of experamentation after 9 years together!
