How do I deal with the new me?

It has been one year last October. I still don't want any part of sex. My husband is very understanding and has been trying to help me find some answers. He found this site for me while searching the web for answers. My question is; will I ever want to be that close to him again with out some kind of drug induced desire? I want to feel like I did before, a sexual being that was always willing and able to couple with the man I love. Will I ever feel like the woman I was per-hyst?

Do you still have pain? Or is this simply (ha ha) a libido issue? What, if any, HRT have you tried? I'm guessing that's what you are referring to by "drug induced desire". Of course this is a drug too, but have you ever tried any of the erectile dysfunction treatments for men? I'll admit, I popped a Viagra once or twice and the results were AWESOME! Keep in mind, this isn't doctor recommended and I probably shouldn't have taken a pill not prescribed for me, but I was curious And drug induced or not, it was a GREAT TIME!

Yes JosieKiss I am still having pain. My pelvic region feels like it is being pulled and streched about half the time. Whenever we have started anything the pressure, even from the outside, was more then I could take. I've been taking Premarian but I have switched to Estratest, I hope that helps with the libdo, but I still have the issue of pain even as I type.

How do I deal with the new me?

Honey, I'm right there with you! It's only been 3 months for me - today actually. Wow! I have no desire and I'm on EstraTest! My sweet husband is being so patient. I had laproscopic surgery in June and had serious post-op trouble for the next two weeks before my TAH in August, so it has been six months for us. I don't know what to do.

have you talked to your dr about the pain your having one year post op? i would think it should be checked out.
hopefully the estratest will help with your libido. if not, let the dr know so other changes can be made. dont give up hope.

i have a hard time also accepting this new me.it dosnt interest me at all and i dont even dream about it anymore.its like i,m numb down there.i have beenhaving a hard time with dryness and atrophy.been using vagifem for quite a few months now and it dosnt seem to be helping.been trying to stay positive and tell myself it will eventually come back but it makes a yr now.i never thought that i could ever be this way,now it seems like i will be a sexless person for the rest of my life.my dr.says that my hormone levels are fine and that i dont need anything other than the vagifem.wish i could tell you the answer,,good luck.

How do I deal with the new me?

thanks ladies for your responses. I also feel sometimes like I will be absent of any physical love for the rest of my life. Fortunetly for me, my DH has found a way that helps me feel some what connected to life before hysterectomy. He has been engaging me in more personal contact, holding hands, kissing, huging, smiling at me when I enter the room. Never letting me completely distance myself from him or our family, yet making sure I have the time alone I need to gather my thoughts and feelings to deal with the day or evening ahead of me. He has been wonderful. I have talked to the dr about the pain. He thinks it's due mainly because of scar tissue. I have had over 24 surgeries because of endo. Lots of scar tissue not sure if it will ever go away.

How do I deal with the new me?

Wow, what a lovely, understanding husband you have! The very fact that he found this site while looking for answers for you just shows what a good person he is. So many give up because it's too hard.

Don't forget there's more to being intimate than sex... but I'm sure you'll find your "mojo" again some day!
