have a question......

I am scheduled to go in on Dec. 12 for a D&C and diagnostic lap. before I am scheduled for my hysterectomy which will come later. However, I started my period today. Do they still go ahead with a D&C and diagnostic lap. if you are on your period??

I appreciate anyone who can answer this for me. I would also like to say that this website is the best. Even though my hysterectomy has not been scheduled yet, I know it will be coming up sometime soon. This website has helped me so much in understanding what to expect. All you ladies are just great!

Yep. No problem. I just did the same thing last month, and I was on my period (not after that D&C though!).

Pretty much follow all the same advice you're getting here about hysts. A lap/D&C is easier to recover from, but all the same issues - just quicker. You'll still need big panties, rest, walking, etc.

Ask for photos from you laparoscopy. (Ahead of time, or they might not take them at all.) Kinda fun to actually *see* what's going on in there.

Good luck!

Yup! Same thing happened to me and it doesn't seem to bother the doctor's! (YUCK! if you ask ME....)

Good luck to you! I came here immediately after I was told I needed a hysterectomy and am scheduled to go in net Monday! :-)

Same thing for me also. Yes do ask for your pictures. My doctor took some and showed them to me. I am so glad that he took them because now that I am scheduled for hysterectomy Dec. 18 he knows what it already looks like in there. Hoping and praying nothing has changed in the past year....

have a question......

Ugh, every time I had surgery (with the exception of the c-sections for my children) this happened to me, including my hysterectomy!
Yep, they do it irregardless.

have a question......

- When I had my D&C/Lap/Hysteroscopy two years ago, I actually called my doctor's office because the bleeding had suddenly STOPPED that morning and I wanted to know he he'd still want to do the D&C, considering, it seemed, that there would be no reason for him to do so!!! Of course, he did it anyway because he wanted to do a hysteroscopy, but it's funny that I worried about the exact opposite of what you're worrying about
