Pre-Op Pain Relief Advice.....

I'm new, and just found out this week I will have surgery December 2, 2003.

Not overly concerned over the emotions of this, I had my tubes tied 2 years back, so not any issues there.

My problem is dealing with the pain till then! It is inside the whole middle area of the uterus. No position is comfy for long, and I've been pretty much bedridden for a month cos it's the only kida sorta comfy place I can hang out and feel a little better.

Hot baths do little good,
Codeine or Lartab and Diclofenac have done little good to ease it either.
Motrin does little good either.

Doc wants me off the Codeine till surgery so I will have some pain relief afterwards when I will need it.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???
Thanks for the help!
Dione

Pre-Op Pain Relief Advice.....

Hey Dione- I'm in NC as well (Raleigh) not too far. Sometimes my heating pad helps relieve some of my terrible cramps. Just wanted to say hi to my fellow North Carolinian.

Thank you Xandra!

Your not too far up the road! :dance2:
Glad to see another Carolinian!

I need an electric heating pad!
Maybe that's what I'll ask for as my anniversary present!
Cos that the only thing that will be heating up till after surgery !

Dione:

If you find that the heating pad helps Id like to suggest that you try the Thermacare heatwraps for when youre out and about. They last 8 hours, you peel the strip off and stick it on your body where you need the warmth. They have them for lower abdomen areas too. You can sleep with one on and no cords!! LOL Also, no one knows youre even wearing one since theyre so thin.

You can find them at any grocery store, pharmacy or Walmart type store where they sell the Bengay and sore muscle gels.

Hope you feel relief very soon!!!

Pre-Op Pain Relief Advice.....

Feisty has the right idea - the Thermacare heating pads. I tried the ones shaped specifically for the abdomen and didn't care for them. They didn't seem to stay where I needed them to be and I ended up thinking that in order for them to be where I needed them, my belly had to be just like the picture on the box - flat as a board! I liked the ones for the lower back that wrapped completely around the body - I could adjust the tightness and get them exactly where they needed to be.

I did get a nice large heating pad, and will look again for that kind next time I am in the store. I saw them, just didn't look to long cos... well, I wanted to get back home and in bed!
