I am a healthy 44 year old today, other than my 4 friends (the fibroid family) and all the havoc they have created in my life. At least I hope it's all because of them, it's what I'm betting on. My Doc will not make me any guaratnees or promises other than I will have no more bleeding and no more cramps which sounds wonderful to me! If the bloating, gas, fullness feeling and my tiredness go away too, then those are bonuses. I would love to write back and forth with you...if you prefer, I think we can do "private messages" on this site....I will see what I can find.
Yes, I answer to Donna all the time, haha. I have 7 or 8 fibroids, but the biggest is about the size of my fist and at the top of my uterus.I think it is causing bladder pressure and back pain. my doctor offered no gaurantees either but after going over worst case scenarios said he thinks it will get better. I don't mind posting in this forum, but I know you aren't supposed to mention children, so I have to watch myself. If there is a private one great (I am new to posting) I will be away from home today but will check back this evening. Talk to you soon. Donna

I too had to be careful what I was reading. Since I was getting a bladder sling I went to the pelvic floor posts and just about changed my mind when I saw some of the problems that some of our were having, good grief
The one thing that I felt I could control was preparing my body as best I could in the time I had. I wanted to take some things that would aid in healing and I ate no red meat or sugar for a month. I ate a lots of spinach, broccoli, fresh fruit and things high in antioxidants and I think it really helped.
The worst part of the surgery was the dry mouth, ice chips were my best friend. I also asked for the foam thing on a stick [ very scientific name ] that you get wet and wipe your teeth and tongue to give you some moisture, that helped although I guess with that description you will never know what to ask for
I have been so blessed with a great recovery and I pray that yours is as wonderful.
Best wishes to you both,

I'm 4 months post op, and I just wanted to offer some reassurance from "the other side."

I had a straightforward TAH/BSO...vertical incision. The surgery went well, I recovered well, I healed well, and I feel great! I am so grateful that I am no longer bleeding and that I had no signs of cancer.

I know there are scary post op stories out there, but I am here to tell you that the majority of us have done very well and are finally leading painfree, tampon-free lives! It's terrific!!!!

Hi EnglishLavendar, yes thank you very much for the positive encouraging words. I keep going back and forth on this. But I really do believe that this is the right thing for me to do.
But you know how our bodies play tricks. Since scheduling my LSH I have not had a period! I have continued to be bloated, and having cramps, back aches and leg pain though...but scared that (.) right away...LOL
