What is a vaginal cuff ???
Hi Penula!
Yes, you'll have a vaginal cuff. It's created to close the incision from the removal of your uterus and cervix so that there isn't an opening to your abdomen. You can read more about that and other interesting topics in the Pre-Op Articles.
If you haven't already seen the Checkpoints and Post-Op Articles you might also want to read them!
Best wishes for your surgery and an uneventful recovery!

What is a vaginal cuff ???
Hi,
If you have your cervix removed (no matter which kind of surgery), the surgeon takes the end of the vagina where the cervix was located and puts a line of sutures in it to sew it shut, then sews the ligaments which were attached to the uterus across the top of the cuff for support.
Imagine a paper towel cardboard tube or the sleeve on a shirt. If you pinch the end together and sew it, it forms a blind pouch. The end that is sewn shut is what is known as the vaginal cuff, and the vagina forms a "dead-end" tube.
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and lots of s,
Lisa
