Upcoming hysterectomy 11/29: bowel prep?

I did do bowelprep for my hysterectomy last Friday and for my laparoscopic surgery in July. I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate. That is the most vile drink I’ve ever had in my life. It’s horrible. If you do have to do it, follow the suggestions that say to chill it in the fridge before you drink it. It makes it slightly more palatable. I generally can’t drink it all in one go, so I drink half in the morning and half in the afternoon and that mostly works for me.

Definitely check with your doctor. Not all women do a bowel prep for the surgery, as you can see from the responses.

Do not do a bowel prep or an enema, take laxatives or stool softeners, or take anything else for that matter (OTC meds, vitamins, herbs, teas, etc.) without your doctors okay. This is very important - your health depends on it.
