I feel like I'm going to lose it, so scared of results

Lordy where to start.....

Dec 5, 2006 I went for my PAP, during the pelvic exam the doctor must have felt something cause she scheduled me for an ultrasound.

Dec 7, 2006 I had my first ultrasound...results cysts ALL over the left ovary, the biggest one 3.8 x 4.1 and my uterin lining 7 (follow-up ultrasound 4 weeks)

Dec 22, 2006 went to specialist he said we would keep an eye on it, no need to worry until the lining gets closer to 10...mind you I haven't had a period since March 06.

Jan 4, 2007 2nd ultrasound...results cysts are still there messurements are the same, uterin lining is now 8.5

Jan 8, 2007 called the specialist and they would see me on Jan 22....I didn't feel like waiting so I called everyone I know who has had trouble and they all gave me the same name...so I called for my 2nd opinion.

Jan 15, 2007 went to the new doctor, he took one look at my ultrasound pictures and written report and he said it needs to come out! BUT he needed to do a hysteroscopy for a biopsy of the lining (growing to quick) That is scheduled for Feb 13, 207

Jan 29, 2007 SOOOO much pain it made me dizzy and I thought I was going to pass out!! Went to the doctor and they scheduled another ultrasound.

Feb 2, 2007 3rd ultrasound preformed...results cysts have grown, biggest one is over 1/2 inch bigger than it was 4 weeks ago. Uterin lining is now a 9.3 STILL having pain when I walk or bend, so I sit with my feet up most of the time.

CAN NOT wait for Feb 13 to get here. I am scheduled for lap hyst on Feb 22 right now, that could change depending on the biopsy results.

I just feel like I am gonna lose it. All I can do is worry. I have 2 kids and I got my tubes tied almost 9 years ago so why am I freaking out!!

PLEASE HELP ME....I am so worried the biopsy results will say it's cancer.

Thanks for reading,
Cindy M

Hi Cindy,

You are freaking out because what you are going through is very scarey. Best advice I can give: try not to be too concerned until you have something concrete to worry about. There are a billion things besides cancer that can cause the uterine lining to grow and cysts to form. Take a deep breath and try to focus on the positive. Now, all that said- I know this is a tough time. I have survived breast cancer twice- so people DO beat it. And, I have endometrial hyperplasia (thickened uterine lining) so, I can empathize. There are a number of metabolic and endrocrine disorders that can affect the growth rate of such things. You are doing all the right things- sounds like you have good care. Get yourself a support system of family, friends, DH, and clergy if you have strong religious beliefs and you'll get through this. I know the waiting is really hard. I remember it well. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

Be well,
Jean

You will get through this. Take each day one at a time. Try to keep busy and keep your mind off it. Feb 13th will be here before you know it.

I feel like I'm going to lose it, so scared of results

Hi Cindy! A big for you...now take a couple of deep breathes. This is all going to be fine. I know it's hard to wait for results and the surgery. I started my trip down this road over a year ago when I started having abnormal bleeding. My gyn. FINALLY sent me to a specialist, went for my ultrasounds, etc. and he scheduled me for surgery 10 days later. I had developed a couple of cysts on my left ovary...the biggest being almost 12 cm (just a tad bit smaller than a regulation softball) At 1st we talked about a partial hyst but after he found out about my family history of ovarian cancer, we decided to take it all. Thank God when I got the pathology report there were no signs of cancer, but if there is family history of this, you might want to tell the specialist and work with him/her from there.

It's not always cancer!!! I haven't felt this good in several years...so there is an upside to it.

Best of luck to you!

I echo WW. Family history of cancer and a pile of tests does not necessarily equate to cancer. Those darn fibroids can grow pretty fast when they want to. Breathe. Clean house. You still have surgery coming, so focus on that for now. One thing at a time.

Hang in there, I actually had a cancer diagnosis, but it is very early, taking out utereus, ovaries, tubes, and they say I should be all cured. So don't worry! Hope they help you with the pain.

Hot I can relate to your feelings 100%. I went in and had an MRI because my back was hurting so badly. They found a 9.3 cm ovarian cyst and fibroids (I knew about them for 24 years) So any way I went and had the intravaginal, abdominal and renal ultrasounds done and they showed the 9.3 cm ovarian cyst, 14 cm enlarged uterus, three fibroids 5 cm and two roughly between 2 and 3 cm. My uterine lining was not thickened at all and the cyst was spetated. I was told the cyst had to come out. I also needed to have what they call a CA 125 blood test. Now mind you this is not a very reliable blood test to detect ovarian cancer it is good if you have cancer and you undergo treatment. Any way it was on the high norm. So I went to see a gyn/oncologist. He wnated everything removed. Too many issues going on. So into surgery I went and everything was a ok (no cancer that is) my pre admission CA 125 had gone down. Three years prior to all of this I had an endometrial biopsy then several months later I had the hystereoscopy and D & C I never felt so good after that D & C. It all came back several years later. I wish that I had done a laparoscopy I think it would have caught the culrpit to all of my problems. It was endometreosis. My ovarian cyst was a follicular ovarian cyst and also an endometrial one at that. I was loaded with the stuff. My paps have always come back normal and so did all of the other biopsies. I am glad that I had all of this done. It helped me to know that I was doing everything possible but I just never thought of the LAPAROSCOPY. I think its a good thing your dr is doing the hysteroscopy. Best wishes and good luck on everything. It is so worriesome because you don't know until your in there sometimes and they have to wake you and tell you the outcome. My dr was there and told me right away what he found and what was done and gave me the thumbs up. He was great!

I feel like I'm going to lose it, so scared of results

I'm just three weeks out of what was the biggest nightmare of my life. After three years of menopause I started bleeding again back in October. Every Dr. who examined me - and both ultrasounds - said I had cancer. It didn't help that my lungs are full of nodules that are NOT cancer, but have all the appearances of matisized cancer. The week before my surgery an attending physician, a GYN Oncologist, saw my charts for the very first time and chewed out all of the residents who saw me and wanted me to sign a consent for radiation to begin immediately after my surgery. I told her I wanted to wait until after my surgery. I had a sarcoma 30 years ago and was scared to death. My doctor was shocked AND pleased to tell me the day after my surgery that the pathology reports showed NO sarcoma like they expect. The best thing a friend told me was "Even if it is cancer, it IS treatable and I will be there right beside you all the way." Keep coming here and talking to these ladies - you are not alone!

I feel like I'm going to lose it, so scared of results

Hi,
Don't freak out - I know the feeling. I was 12 when I had my left ovary removed - 1 huge cyst a little bigger than the rim of a 12 oz. cup. I wasn't told it may be cancerous - my parents knew but didn't feel the need to share it with me - I found out afterwards they thought that - everything was fine. Now, I'm having my lap-hyst on the 20th because of cyst(s) on my right ovary - cancer has never been mentioned. There's hope for all of us!
Good luck!
