bowel prep..

I could have clear liquids until midnight the night before my surgery, but was cautioned to stay away from anything red. You don't want the doctors to be thinking it's blood during your surgery.

Glad you were able to get it all down. I remember drinking around 3/4 of mine and it kept threatening to come back up, so I called the doctor's office and told the nurse I felt like I wasn't going to be able to finish it because it was making me nauseous. She told me if I vomited, I'd have to go out and get another bottle and drink it. I don't know how I did it, but I finished it and it stayed down.

Best wishes to you

When I did my prep for colonoscopy they told me don't drink anything red or purple because they can confuse it with blood.

I had the lemon phosphate too. I chugged it cold. BLEH! I had no idea that there was "prep" like that involved.

You might want to mention to your doctor that you ate red jello yesterday just to be on the safe side.

For others who may be reading this, it's not only red jello, but red kool-aid, red popsicles, red gatorade, cranberry juice etc. It's not that your doctor doesn't know the difference between blood and red jello, but during surgery it could appear as blood in the intestines.
