Re: Bladder spasms 3 weeks post hysterectomy
They can be. They were normal for me, as my bladder was adhered to my uterus and to my intestines by endometrial tissue, and my poor bladder went through A LOT during surgery. The bladder spasms lasted for about 2 months, for me.
It is important to rule out a UTI, so do call your doctor. I found drinking plenty of water (nearly a gallon a day!) and urinating on a schedule (Every one hour for the first 3 weeks and then I started stretching it out longer) was the most helpful thing for me. My “I need to pee” feeling was gone and I would wait too long and then my bladder would spasm and throb.
Take care!
