Full hysterectomy on July 31st and terrified
Thanks so much for you input, tabasco!! I think I'm almost as nervous about the silly bladder test as I am for the actual surgery. I have my pre op next Tuesday. One question...did it hurt when they inserted the catheter??? My DH is going with me...he will probably be the embarrassed one, tho...LOL!!

Full hysterectomy on July 31st and terrified
tatersalad99, It stings when they put the catheter in, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Obviously they are putting something in an out hole. lol Just a warning, I took my husband too because I was scared and they wouldn't let him go in with me. But on the bright side, I talked to the ultrasound tech and told her my fears and she walked me through the whole thing very calmly. I honestly could hardly bring myself to walking in there. The sad part of the whole thing is I am a nurse in a neonatal intensive care and have been for 19 years and I am the biggest weiny. I dread my yearly tb skin test. Pitiful isn't it? Hang in there, if I can go through all of this you can. I'll be thinking about you and let me know if you have any other questions. HUGS

Full hysterectomy on July 31st and terrified
Tomorrow is week four. I finally felt like a human being the last couple of days. The worse part is my bottom end. I feel like I had a 9 pounder down there! My vagina and tailbone have been sore. Tylenol usually does the trick and today I haven't had to take anything. woo hoo The hardest part is taking it easy. I work 12 hours shifts at least 3 to 4 times a week and am always on the go. I'm 48 years old too and I think that plays a part in the recovery. I was very very stressed out before my surgery too, so mentally I was not prepared. Try to take it easy and destress as much as possible. I know that is easy for me to say, but I think it is really important. The part that wigged me out was they thought I had ovarian cancer and I was not expecting that at all. I thought I was going through menopause and having abnormal periods. Luckily it was a dermoid cyst and was benign. Because I'm in the medical field, , I've never taken my health for granted but this really threw me for a loop. I'll be thinking of you. Eat good, walk as much as possible or get some exercise (which I didn't do enough of) and rest your mind. Good luck!

amarylis110, thanks for the advice, i think the waiting and wondering is the worse part. I think I will be alot more relaxed after my pre op appointment, thanks to this site,I have lots of questions, atleast I will feel like I am a part of this process, in some kinda control instead of it controling me,
thanks again by the way I am 36. My doctor really thinks that is youg, but I don't

Bladder test
I also had the bladder test done but about a month before surgery, it was just myself & a nurse & other than being a little uncomfortable wasn't bad. Its to test to see if you will need bladder repairs, I didn't. More uncomfortable for me was post surgery, the next evening after they knew I could walk to the bathroom, they filled my bladder with saline & then measured how much I expelled in the bathroom...just to make sure you can fully empty the bladder on your own, fortunately I could but that was an extremely long way to the bathroom or maybe it was my snail speed!. My room mate didn't have this done so guess it depends on dr.

i was having a good day until
1. internet at home is out
2. voice mail pass code at work is not working
But besides the little everyday stressors in life I'm still okay except
my period should be over but I am still BLEEDING like a teenager
here's a gross one
I'm sure you've all done this
the old drip and drop right into the toilet.
I am a *******' faucet.
The countdown is on. Just trying to stay healthy and every where I go someone is sneezing, coughing or snorting. Trying to hold my breath the 16 floors up on the elevator!

Hello..I am also from Oklahoma and underwent a TAH on 25 Jun. I have not had any problems and have felt really good post-op except for some incisional soreness and the dreaded swelly belly. I will be praying for you. I am sure you will do great.

Poor dear Iwaveatcows been there. Hopefully, you are wearing a pretty RED outfit and not a daring white one !!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA. Thank goodness it is Friday. Hang in there sweetie. I had the most bizzare dream about having my hysterectomy last night, I mean BIZZARE !! It started with me in prison (Now let me explain you do not get any more goody goody than me, so that was wild I would dream that) and I was flirting with some big ole rough looking inmate, then I started having cramps bad next thing I knew this lady ran this big long needle up my arm through my chest, then I got some drugs where I was kind of out but not totally and I the doctor came in started pulling out everything from "Down tbere" and delivered a set of conjoined twins one red headed and one dark black hair (my husband has red hair and me black, well now gray and black) then everything else was just jerked out. Then I they got me up and walked me around trying to find me a room in an outside hotel..................so strange. I am thinking if the real thing is any where better than this, it will be okay !!!!!!
Just thought I would share the bizzare with ya !!!!!!! Your welcome !!! HAHAHAHA
Have a great day everyone.
