Bookah my daughter in laws mom just had all of that stuff done. She had her part of her thyroid removed last year then this year nodes returned and the biopsy came back OK. No radiation for her she is on thyroid med's and doing well. Try not to worry.

I second that Bagpuss. so sorry you're having a yucky day. I hope things look up soon! I was looking at my scar the other day and thinking how CLEAN it looks. Smooth too. Almost like someone just drew on my stomach with a maroon pencil. Maybe because I had no stitches or staples so it healed evenly. But its VERY dark red and I have doubts it'll ever disappear completely like my DP's has.

Bookah I talked to my DP and she said you shouldn't worry about the amount of radiation with that type of scan. Its not a high level and is a standard test they'd have to do.... probably even before they considered a needle biopsy. I'm surprised they're saying come in for a consult if they'd only have the ultrasound to discuss. You'd think like you they'd want to be swimming in information so they can give you an idea of what to expect. Do you have any say about which tests or do they have to be recommended by your doc? If you get in to see the specialist maybe THEY"LL refer you for the scan. I do'nt blame you in wanting as much information as you can get. I always like to go to the site, www.webmd.com because its great at giving you very specific information on procedures, risks, what to expect, and even provides photos of equipment, physical images, etc. Give it a try!

Bagpuss, that's awful about your son. Only 9 years old and someone is speaking out against him at church?!??!! I know some children today are allowed to run riot, but if you don't even know what he was accused of doing I"m thinking it was just someone without patience, and without a full acceptance of what church and community is all about. I hope you get to the bottom of it and are able to talk to you DS about what happened so he doesn't feel so bad. I also don't blame you for not wanting to sing there if you feel you're loved one is not being appreciated as part of the church family. Children can be a challenge at church and at formal events but they're kids for goodness sake! If they're behaving with the respect and demeanor you should EXPECT from a 9 year old, then that's it. We aren't all mature, sedate adults. Other than some person who doesn't like children I can't IMAGINE someone making a complaint like that.

Well, I have had a tough week. Just when my energy was picking up, I have had a very tiring week. Woke up the other night with my left arm throbbing. When I called my doc he said it was my body's way of saying "Way too much". So now I have to dial it back. It amazes me how much this has taken out of me. Overall though I am feeling pretty good. No pain and my incision looks really good. Have a good weekend everyone.

Congrats to everyone on your 10 week hysterversaries. Mine is today!!!! Woo Hoo! I feel like a million bucks (I wish I knew what that felt like )

The weather is beautiful here I hope you are all blessed with a wonderful day.
Yes Bookah, happy hysterversary!!!! Imagine this ladies....Bookah and I were on the same unit after our hysts at the same hospital!!! We only just met about 10 weeks ago on this site, not yet in person!!!! Small world......
Bookah, I am so appalled by your treatment at your mamm/us appt. That tech shouldn't be in the profession, or she should be reprimanded so she is aware of the effects her demeanor and attitude has on her patients. I am so sorry you had to go through that.
I myself went in a week ago for my follow up after a lump/biopsy and detection of a cyst cluster....all is well, that is nothing has changed and the previous biopsy was negative. Thank God!! I do have to go back in 5 months though.
I haven't posted much lately because I have been so depressed.....I am greiving the loss of my darling Tigger cat. We had him for 9 yrs, and he just came down sick last week Thursday. We took him to the vet, discovered he was riddled with kidney stones, in the bladder, ureters, and urethra. He was in a lot of pain and the surgeries would have been extensive, not to mention very very expensive. What a horrible feeling......and a horrible decision to make. We said goodbye on last Saturday, and I have been feeling terrible about it since. I really miss him, he was such a loving pet and family companion.
Anyway, that is why I haven't felt much like posting.
I hope everyone is well, FlatFroggie ~ are you doing ok? I haven't seen a post from you in a while...you are in my thoughts today as well as all my hystersista's.

Hi, all. I'm doing pretty well in spite of an incredibly busy week.:run3: My tummy was much flatter at the beginning of the week and then the swelly belly came back. I have the weekend off so hopefully the swelling will go down again.

Guineapigs, I wish you and dd best of luck at your follow-up visits at the dr next week. Pocono, I'd never heard of the IV machine. They always have a hard time putting an IV in my arm so I'll keep that in mind.

I hope everyone has a beautiful, sunny weekend.

I should say it is not what you would call an iv machine but something that lets them see what they are doing so they know exactly where to poke you. From my understanding it takes the guesswork out of where to actually poke you. They actually used the word guided.

quietly lurking

Hi ladies~

I have been quietly lurking, not posting much. I am feeling really great. Back to my "old" self you might say. I still have quite uncomfortable pulling sensations but that is pretty much it. I wore white pants the other day. It's the little things isn't it????

Hundjm~howdy
I am glad to hear from you. We are thinking of ordering tickets to the carrie underwood night of the mountain country music fest. Maybe see you there?

Bookah~ my thoughts are with you. My sister, who had many parathyroid and thyroid problems for many many many years, had a goiter and 1/2 her thyroid removed about 13 years ago. Her thyroid that was left was enlarging and affecting her ability to speak. So they did u/s and found her gland was nodular with many nodes too small to biopsy. Because of her age ,38, and the appearance of the gland, many little instead of one or two large, they said Cancer was unlikely. They scheduled a thyroidectomy. No rush for them, 8 months later the path results came back positive for thyroid cancer. SO she drank the radioactive iodine. She was radioactive after that, and had to stay secluded for 3 days, even eating off of all disposable dishes! She goes for pet scans regularly. Exactly as you say, no one WANTS cancer, but if you have to have it it may as well be one that is easier to cure.......

The censoring thing. Hilarious. A long time ago in a post I was talking about the feeder steers we have, they are "snorfleed." Well that is not the farm term for that procedure. I used the "C" word for the removal of the testicals. It came through as a different word alltogether. I laughed so loud. I think every banned word has a different alternate. snorfledoodled.

Spring has sprung here in michigan, finally, so I hope you all have as great a day as it will be here!

dang~
hundjm so sorry to hear about your kitty. It sounds like you were tigger's loving and merciful Mom. That's a great thing to be. It is so sad when they leave us, but they are wonderful while they are here! My kids tie strings to their belt loops and run. what a laugh!

We have about 20 cats. (I know, I am married and 36 and already a crazy cat lady). Most are barn cats. 2 are house cats and 2 try really hard to be.

Ms. kitty has 4 -3 week old kittens in the barn and 3 are spoken for.......

my thoughts are with you today too
