Hi Nanette, the cruise was awesome, we saw dolphins everywhere, and even a shark, and the sunset was priceless.I guess your right , I shouldn't stop HRT ,I only have 4 more left for this month.I kept my ovaries too, but was told they stopped working after surgery.I do know some of the blood work was for thryriod and diabetes, but don't know the results yet.My sleepless pattern has returned again, that was short lived.Anyway do you have any suggestions for a natural option?Well tomorrow is the big day for hubby, I will let you know how that goes. Have a great day, take care.

Hi, all.

Jayne, I'm glad you're enjoying Fla. Best of luck to your hubby tomorrow. I've been wondering lately if my remaining ovary is working, too. Since it's so hot here, I'm not sure if my feeling of being overly warm is due to the weather or hormones. Thanks for the tip, Dany. I'll check out the Natural Menopause board.

Theresa, thanks for the advise about the upholstery/button thread.

Take care everyone.

From my own experience, my ovaries DID stop working after surgery, but they kicked back in after a few weeks.... it could be symptoms are caused by your ovaries starting to work again.... I'd check with the doc! Melatonin helps me big time with the sleeplessness.

Catnapper, I didn't even see this post. Sorry I didn't get back to you. If the upholstery thread is too thick or doesn't work, I have the same problem with a pair of pants I have... the "hook" and "eye" are actually flat metal and they cut through the thread. You can replace them with covered hook and eyes (kind of old fashioned but you can buy them at most fabric stores, they're actually covered by thread), or snaps... or try fishing filament, which can hang in there with fish hooks and such so might be stronger.

That's my suggestion anyway!

Thanks, Madeline. I bought some button thread today and will give that a try. If it doesn't work, I think I will try a new hook and eye.

I see the doc again in Aug. and was thinking of asking her for a hormone test to see if my ovaries are working but I saw a post on the Natural Menopause thread from a woman who said the test is pretty expensive...about $400. I have insurance, but a high deductible so I would have to pay for the whole thing. It's probably not worth that much to me.

Hi Jayne, Hope hubby's surgery went well today. I would also suggest going to a health food store. The people that work there (at least by me) are always very knowledgeable about natural remedies and may have some suggestions for you. Talk to you soon.

Hi Laura and Madeline - How is the heat by you? It is 94 today and suppose to be 97 tomorrow. Hopefully it is not quite as hot by you guys. Madeline - how is your new job or is it not so new anymore. I hope you are still enjoying it.

Laura will talk soon.

Take care, Nanette

Hi, Nan. It's pretty hot here, too. We had a thunderstorm this afternoon that cooled us off for a bit and now it's even more humid. Fortunately, it's supposed to rain tomorrow and Wed. and then we will have highs around 80. I can't wait. It would be nice to turn the ac off.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Nanette - Right now we're dealing with strange weather... in the 60's during the day but by late afternoon it gets really humid and we have violent thunderstorms including hail, high winds, and torrential rains.... lasts about 20 minutes then moves on to make room for the next. I think last night we had about 6 storms. One woman a couple towns over from me got hit by lightning! I dont mind the storms so much, but the cool days are strange. WE had temps close to 100 last week for a number of days, but this is New England so we're not surprised at mother nature having mood swings! LOL

My new job is going great. Lots of fun projects and SUCH a different environment from my last job. I'm very glad I took the leap into a new career. ITs been just over a month and I"m still happy with my decision and I hear at my old job one of the partners and one of the senior execs are being given the axe.... so I think I got out just in time!

Gotta run!

Hi everyone, DH had his 1st surgery yesterday (facets on 2 levels), it went great. He is up and walking, he went to P/T this morning and they scheduled his next surgery (remove disk buldge and clear room for nerve space) for tomorrow @ 7:30.He is walking straight up again and looks a lot better. He is so ready for Wednesday. His pain level has already been cut in half. This place is awesome and Florida isn't too bad either. We both miss the kids a whole bunch, that part has been tough. I guess I'll chat again after he is done tomorrow.Good night and take care.
