Hi Flatfroggie
Sorry about your dd. Hope she gets better quickly. I think the s.e. would be a less expensive place to vacation. Maybe Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head Island. I went to MB with my 5 kids 2 yrs ago and it was very inexpensive. Check out hotels on tripadvisor.com You can find a place anywhere in the world and read tons of reviews from the people that went to them. I picked a place from that site for our vacation this summer. Myrtle Beach again It's great for families.

I have already said good morning but I was looking at my hair and saying boy do I need a haircut and color again. Oh well, I guess it will have to wait a couple of weeks still.
On the couch and bagpuss I hope you guys feel better. I had that up until about 1 week ago where I kept going to the bathroom and never finished and 5 minutes later would go again. In the hospital I actually sat on the toilet for 40 minutes bec I kept feeling like I had to go and then of course, my legs fell asleep. Hopefully this is nothing and it will go away like mine did but maybe you should call your dr to check.

Flat froggie.... In Port St. Lucie, Fl they have a Club Med and let me tell you it is THE best place in the US for a family vacation. truly...
It's all inclusive, and the food is fantastic. they have baby through teen clubs, where the GO's (staff) hang with the kids and have all sorts of activities for them to keep them happy. It's not like a day care- you pick up and drop off as you wish, they even have night activities. they have all kinds of fun stuff to do, swimming, golf, tennis, shows, movies, yoga, treasure hunts, boating, even a circus school with trapeze. It's South florida, so it's pretty warm. the only thing is, it's on the river with a "beach" not a true beach, but they do have a shuttle to the beach about 10 minutes away. but to be honest, we never left the resort- not once!! All my kids had a great time... (1yr- 113yrs) and BEG to go back. Some of the other Club Meds have kids clubs as well. One in the dominican Republic is much nicer as it is directly on the beach and newer... but this one if close by, great price if you factor in all you would pay otherwise for meals and activities somewhere else. Plus, at this club med. Its actually a vacation for parents, too. You'll be able to have some free time of your own, knowing your kids are having fun and are SAFE. They are running a special now where every 2nd person is half off.
Another great place, my favorite, is on the panhandle of Florida. It's on the gulf, so the water is much warmer and the sand is white and fluffy- not like the Atlantic. You can find an cottage depending on the area that is not too expensive, but getting there you'd have to rent a car. Destin, Seaside, Seagrove rosemary beach,Panama city.. all places on the gulf. You would have a bit more quiet time there, as Club Med has lots going on all the time with children everywhere! I wouldn't go there without kids, that's for sure!!
Good luck in finding something!!!

Ohhhh Florida or sunshine sounds great - we might hit 50F - 10C for those on the other side of the pond. That would be shorts weather for us here in MN. I will be in France in September - any of the English ladies feel like meeting in Paris? That is about as close to England as I will get on this trip - unless by some miracle I can get to my Thai exchange student daughter's graduation from Oxford in July. I too got a little ambitious yesterday and am feeling it today. Luckily I have my Dh here for most of the day to assist me. Here's to spring getting here soon!

I think to be warm enough you'd have to go to Florida in April. If you visit the pan handle be sure and check out constuction and stuff. When we went to Pensacola 2 years ago to visit our oldest son there was sand everywhere all over parking lots and roads because of hurricanes. Lots of hotels under construction. Last year when we went things were better but the hotel right next to ours was under major construction. Also, although I think the sand is prettier on the panhandle the beach was cut off. When I went to Holden Beach in NC--not too touristy and Folly Beach right across from Charlestown, SC the beaches had long flat stretches to walk on at low tide--big distance between low tide and high tide. At Pensacola there was a drop--steep slant and you walked at angle--hardly a difference between low and high tide. I didn't know why this was--maybe it's normal or maybe beaches get washed out because of hurricanes???

Poconowoman,
Wow. Not a great way to hear about an additional procedure or the cyst! I'd let the doctor know you want to know MORE, and, you think s/he should have talked wtih you about it before now! I know it's hard to be assertive with these docs, even the nice ones. But really, it's shocking that they wouldn't have kept you informed. Good luck!
