This special Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread is for YOU if you are having surgery this week. This thread chat will help you meet others who are having surgery the same week as you, calm your anxiousness, and help answer your last minute questions.

Having a hysterectomy (keep ovaries) Friday.

First surgery with overnight stay, so a bit nervous. Never had incisions either.

Same here. Mine is on Thursday. I’m really anxious - I’m lucky that my large fibroid isn’t causing me too many issues other than going to the toilet (both ways) so worried if I’m doing the right thing having such a major op (TAH). I wasn’t offered any other procedure because of the position of the fibroid. .

Hello! I’m having mine on Thursday as I have adenomyosis in womb and damaged fallopians plus may have to remove one ovary if too damaged from endometriosis. This will be my third laparoscopy for endo/ adhesions excisions / removal. Feeling quite stressed as they kept telling me I would have a consult via telephone but nothing as of yet and I haven’t spoken to anyone about this since Aug 2019. Don’t really know much about hysterectomys so found this site so helpful!

I’m having surgery tomorrow, Monday, (TAH). I only found out a month ago I had fibroids, and they are massive apparently. So much so that I need to have a vertical incision from above my navel to pubis in order to remove them.
I’m scared, it’s going to be a long procedure. Thankfully,‘I should be spending 3-4 days in hospital afterwards.
I’ve taken all sorts of advise from this page. My freezer is stocked, house is as clean as it’s going to get. I have plans to meet with my bff’s this afternoon, and am as ready as I can be.

Total LAVH plus ovaries and Fallopian tubes is Tuesday. It’s a prophylactic surgery due to Lynch Syndrome, which increases chances of endometrial and ovarian cancer.

I’m concerned about surgical menopause because I don’t know if I’ll be allowed HRT. Also surgeon said something about my possibly being kept in the post-op recovery area instead of a room due to COVID, so 1) I’m wondering how/if I’ll be able to see my husband afterwards because they don’t allow visitors into that area, and 2) hate the idea of being around a lot of other people when feeling ill/vulnerable.

Also just generally anxious because first surgery.

But my freezer is stocked, supplies are purchased, and I’ve cleaned All The Things.

Is everyone on this thread from the UK? Or all over?

I’m having my hysterectomy Friday. They are taking my uterus and Fallopian tubes but leaving my ovaries. I’m 38 and have 3rd degree POP. I’m feeling very anxious more about recovery than the surgery. I have two young sons who I am homeschooling and I am in my final college semester and I’m worried I will be out of commission.

Hello All! My surgery is tomorrow (Monday 9/21) to repair my pelvic floor. It's like a complete overhaul. And, includes a laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy.
