Hospital stay

I had SAH and stayed in the hospital 3 1/2 days. It varies. It depends on the type of surgery---abdominal or vaginal. Abdominal surgery usually requires a little longer stay.

I had a TAH/BSO and stayed 3 days. Once I could pee on my own they let me go. I really would have felt better staying longer but you gotta love insurance companies!!

I had a TAH and MMK, and went home 3 days later. When I was at the hospital, I didn't think I'd make it at home yet, but felt soooooo much better once I was actually home.

I had a TAH/vertical incision. The operation was Monday morning and I was released Thursday morning.

Wednesday morning my doctor (GP) stopped by to see how I was doing. He seemed a bit bemused to find me heading down in the elevator to the cafeteria with my dad, who wanted to go for coffee. When the surgeon stopped by Wednesday morning for her check, I wasn't even on the floor. (She caught up with me later.)

The surgeon had booked me in for an additional day (release Friday) but since my plumbing was all back online and I was tube-free, eating solid food, walking the halls, showering, and going on field trips to the ground floor of the hospital, they kicked me and my flowers out before I became even more of a nuisance.

I believe it is highly individual but rest assured that if you're doing well, they'll send you home ASAP.

Keep well,

hospital stay

I went to my pre op appointment yesterday and the doctor told me that they now keep you 2 nights, because insurances don't like to pay for more. But if he thought I needed another night he wouldn't hesitate to keep me in. I am having a tah/bso.

I had my TAH/BSO on a Fri. morning and was released Mon. afternoon. The dr. called my insurance and was given approval for 7 days inpatient if needed. I was released after having a BM in the hospital. It all depends on how well you are doing.
