September sister
Hi there,
I am scheduled for Sept. 25 and am like you - wanting to enjoy the summer but find it hard waiting. I am only like my username "optimist" because of this site and reading it every day for the past 4 weeks, when it all was scheduled. This is my first reply on the site but you sounded so much like me, I had to respond. With all the time, I have had lots of anxiety and ups and downs, but I am getting a lot of practical things ready for my recovery. It has kept me busy and my mind out of trouble. I am doing everything possible to enjoy the summer, even though my energy level is down - I just keep thinking about how different next summer will be, and all the great things I will be able to do and how free I will feel. This is a far cry from my attitude before finding the support of the Hyster Sisters - I cried for days, and thought nothing would ever be the same. And thank God it won't - I am tired of the restrictions on my life with all the endless bleeding and discomfort.
Thanks for getting all the Sept. sisters together - that is wonderful.
Take care and let us all keep our heads up toward that wonderful future,
The Optimist

Cathlaur
Hi, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner as I also was on vaction with my DH and another reason why I didn't go into the castle sooner. We got away over to the coast with no worry's,now it is to put the nose to the grind stone and get things ready to go to the castle on Sept. 11. I see that I have a twin for that day, I sure would like to hear from her, we could keep each other going. Cath I sure will let you know what happened after my surgery. This site helps me to keep strong about all I will be going through, which will probably be a TAH-BSO but I will have to wait and see if the DR thinks it's necessary. (good chance it is as I all so have fibroids on the uterus). Did you enjoy your vacation? I hope all is going well for you.

September Sisters
Hi all
Just found this site today and I am so thrilled to see that I am not alone!
My surgery (TAH) is scheduled for September 11. I have been waiting since June because the hospital is so busy.
It is nice to know that I will have some friends to talk to after the surgery is done! I am really nervous about how I will feel after I get home. Also am starting on HRT right away and wonder how long it will take to find the right combination to avoid the "menopause crazies"
I hope to get to know you all in the weeks ahead!

Sept Sisters (9/12 for me)
Hey Squid56,
Sorry it took me so long to reply to your post in particular, and others....I have been rather self-absorbed in my fight for sanity and trying to avoid depression. Went for my re-check on the breast biopsy site...it is okay, but still no results. Have to wait until Monday or Tuesday. To top it off, despite being on Progesterone (100mg/day) I finally got a period after 4 months, so am bleeding heavily...almost thought I was hemorrhaging (shouldn't this really be spelled "hemor-raging" at first and called the doctors office after hours...wasn't. When you go so long between periods I almost forget what is normal...if I ever knew....well that will be over with forever in a month.
I know exactly how you are feeling about the number of surgeries...I think I have had 5-7 for endometriosis, cysts, a RSO, infertility stuff etc. In fact, next time I see my Dr. I will have to ask for the official count. Hopefully this will be the last time for both (all) of us and we can become the princesses we were always meant to be.
I looked at your profile...and how funny...we are only days apart in birthdays too; yours is the 14th of March; mine is the 8th.
I do not really have a pre-surgery appointment with my dr. other that to sign my consent with my dr. I get to send the other consent and paperwork to the Asst. Dr., who is actually handling all the scheduling, paperwork etc. (kinda weird). I have my appt with the castle on 9/5 for all my blood work, EKG, chest x-ray, etc. I also get to drink the 4 litres of "soda pop" over the course of the afternoon and evening the day before surgery...blech...it is for a bowel prep...just in case, and because when I had endo, my bowel was involved. What do you think....cherry flavor or orange? I will probably never like whatever flavor I choose again!
I tried Xanax and a couple of other things when I was getting migraines last year...sort of helped. You might ask your doctor about Ambien...that really helped me when my hot flashes were really bad. It is a mild sedative that you can take for short durations, and might work for the week before your surgery...but ask your doctor.
Now...to get through the weekend.

Any September sisters? Or is it too early!!!?
Hey Going!! Seems we are sisters!! I go in on the 11th too!! I also noticed that you said you had pain in your left side-that's where most of mine is too. I really don't have a diagnosis, though. Had lapro 9 years ago-scar tissue too bad to laser and was told a hyster was about 5 years away. Stretch it to 9!! When I saw the doc on the 2nd and told him how bad the pain had become-heavy!! periods, etc. he said looks like its time to go ahead. I'm tired all the time-tired of hurting too!!! I feel pretty calm about it the surgery doesn't bother me-not after2 c-cections and the lapro-I feel like I can rest more this time since I won't have a newborn to take care of!! My girls are 20 and 17,son is 14, granddaughter is17 months and DH is soo supportive!! I have a great family-I feel so blessed!! THe good Lord will see us happy and healthy on the other side of the castle!!! Talk to ya later!! susie

TAH/BSO on Sept. 27th
I am scheduled for TAH/BSO on Sept. 27th. I also have fibroids causing bladder problems.
It might give me too much time to think, but I am scheduling mine between our county fair and deer season (if I want help from dh). What priorities!!!
I am so glad I found this website. I feel more informed about the surgery and healing process.
Thanks to all of you!

Any September sisters? Or is it too early!!!?
Hello susiemby & nanasgirl,
Well I am glad to see that there are others on the same day Sept. 11. At this moment we are triplets. Well susiembly unfortunely I am a little apprehensive of my surgery and I have had a ectopic and laszer surgery done, I am just not one to sit and watch things pile up and my Dh does try and my DD will be here a week before she goes back to college, but she is working two jobs so she doesn't have much time to help oh well I think blinders are in order here. I get kinda panicky right now because I hope I have enough time to get things semi in order. I do have pain in my left side and down my leg and back and that is the side that has the cysts on my ovary, the dh all so said adhesions could all so be causing some of the problems. Its just that each months pain seems to get longer of a time and fatique is a facter too. So castle here I come!!! You two keep in touch with your progress and others will probably join us soon. Take care.

I was an August sister
Hello, September sisters,
I scheduling glitch moved my trip to the castle from 8/21 to 9/12. (Part of me is celebrating the reprieve.)
My first unit of donated blood will need to be discarded but luckily my hemoglobin is high enough I will be able to donate two more units to have the two units the doctor is anticipating needing.
So 9/12 is the day for my TAH/BSO with abdominoplasty (due to being very overweight).
My best thoughts and wishes to all hyster sisters (Septmeber and other wise)
Susan (a.k.a. Greybraids)

I was an August sister also but had to reschedule also! It went from August 18 to Sept. 15. I haven't decided whether I am getting a total or not. I am anxious for this to be over and no more heavy bleeding and cramps, etc..... I have three teenagers and have told them I am going to count on them to help with the house, laundry and dinner (and no fighting!) My husband has been pretty quiet about it so far. Not voicing alot of concerns. I think I am ready though.
