My doctor urged me to have a total hysterectomy due to fibroids and my family history of uterine cancer. I was confident in her advice and did not seek a second opinion. I suffered for over 4 years with erratic periods and heavy bleeding that seemingly came out of nowhere. I opted for the daVinci surgery because it afforded me less recuperation time.

I am one year post surgery and wanted to share a few trials, tribulations and solutions during my experience. I opted to have my ovaries and uterus removed via the da Vinci laparoscopic method. And while the surgery and immediate post-op was smooth, I cannot say the same about the instant state of menopause I encountered, and the internal adhesions that formed in my body.

I was unaware that my body had formed adhesions but quickly noticed (4 weeks post-op) that I could no longer have a normal bowel movement on my own, and resorted to a daily intake of laxatives. My upper and lower abdominal areas felt like cement.

I asked my surgeon and my gastroenterologist about adhesions and their quick response was, "Of course you have adhesions!! You had surgery and that's NORMAL !!!" So I asked how to handle them and my doctors exclaimed, "More Surgery!" Ha!!! No thanks!!!

Side-note, as I realized that something was really wrong, I scheduled an endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out potential life threatening blockages in my colon. Very relieved to learn that there were none. I recommend this if you're in doubt.

I strongly believe in Reiki and hand-on holistic healing modalities and had a session with my Reiki Master. She also sensed the build up of the blockages in my body.

Fast-forward to today; my adhesions are nearly gone. I went to a holistic practitioner experienced in Rolfing ( a form of bodywork that targets the reorganization of structural tissue and fascia). He found thick rope-like adhesions that had pulled my right rib cage down, and had also wrapped around my intestines and gallbladder. No surprise I was feeling horrible... After two very intense sessions, the adhesions are nearly gone. My posture, digestive system and overall well-being are greatly improved. And although these sessions can be painful, they are well worth it.

I truly hope that anyone who is suffering from this type of discomfort post-op, and thinks that this article resonates with your symptoms - go the natural route. It has worked wonders for me.
