Question-Can Large Fibroids cause numbness

Hello Hystersisters,
A month ago both of the soles of my feet and perineum area went numb and are still numb. After an MRI which showed a large 10 cm fibroid along with 10 other smaller fibroids the neurologist told me that the fibroid is pushing on the sacral nerve causing the numbness. My question to all of you is whether or not any of you have experienced ongoing loss of sensation and/or numbness that was due to fibroids and/or enlarged uterus. I am scheduled for a RALH in two weeks but want to be sure that the fibroids are what is causing the numbness.
Thank you

Re: Question-Can Large Fibroids cause numbness

You may want to call your doctor and ask if they agree with the neurologist, and if having the surgery will help this.

Some other women with similar experiences may chime in.

Good luck

Re: Question-Can Large Fibroids cause numbness

I haven't had this issue as my fibroid tumors are not that large, but I can tell you when I was pregnant my son pushed on that nerve and I was unable to feel my legs or feet for a period of time.... I can imagine something that pushes on it can cause issues.

I agree with marestail that you should call you regular doctor and ask. I would also talk to an OBGYN nurse and ask- they tend to be more open then the doctors about answering questions over the phone.

I hope you get better soon and you feel better after your surgery.

Hang in there!
