One week post op - feeling great

Hi ladies, I was home on Sat morning having had sub total hysterectomy for 24 week fibroid on 20th Feb. I have to say that all your reasurence that the wait was often much worse than the procedure and recovery is true!!! so thanks for that, it really helped me pre op.

The op only took an hour, and was more straightforward than the surgeon anticipated - he almost sounded disapointed when he saw me next day (lol). I did't need a vertical incision, and although the horizontal one is hip to hip, it is healing really well already, with dislovable stiches. It is so neat, I am amazed. (the nurses said I had to let the surgeon know how pleased I was and I quote ' ... you know surgeons, it will make him sooo happy, they love that sought of thing,'!) lol. Drain and catheter out 24 hours post op. Pain was the biggest issue, and morphine pump not that helpful, just put me to snoring sleep for a bit. However, started on codein next day, (can't have non steroidals) got up and out of bed, and hey presto pain started to ease a lot. Now just on paracetomol pain meds. BM three days post (with senna help). I tell you gals, I am feeling so well I can hardly believe I have had the op!!
You should all be proud of yourselves for your advice, comments, support. Loads of love and thanks to this site, Tabby 1
