Rescheduled Hysterectomy: June 12th

My surgery has been rescheduled on June 12th. (my anxiety has a tight grip on me, real bad panic attacks)
But first I have to get tested for the Coronavirus on June 9th. (Hopefully nothing will postpone my appointment this time lol)

Re: Rescheduled Surgery: June 12th

Hi RubySunSet7409 -

All of your feelings, fears, anxieties, emotions, and even your freakouts are completely normal.

One way to help anxiety is to keep yourself very busy - it can take your mind off surgery. Exercise also helps. You do have to prepare your household for your downtime. So, here are 10 Tips for Preparing for Your Hysterectomy

What I found most useful were the following (some of these may not be possible due to the pandemic):
-Meals in the freezer that can be put in the microwave
-Easy foods for breakfasts and lunches
-Loose fitting clothing
-Prepare your recovery corner with pillows and blankets
-Plan entertainment for your brain
-Small pillow to hold against your tummy for coughs and sneezes (or pet visits)
-Super clean your house
-Get your hair cut

Just know that you are not alone in any of this. We will be by your side throughout this process.

I too am in the throughs of anxiety and nerves BIG time. I feel like a blubbering mess, the tears are just coming, anywhere and anytime. I am scheduled for June 11th and I believe a Covid test on the 9th(haven't got the official date yet). Best of luck to both of you, we will get through this, somehow!

Re: Rescheduled Surgery: June 12th

Having surgery is scary. The doctors and nurses will take very good care of you. They will watch over you and monitor you very closely. Probably at no other time are you the center of such attention. Everyone in operating room has gone through extra training and education just to be there.

Here are articles that may provide information:

My surgery was on Wednesda,2 days ago after being rescheduled from April. I had got used to that it wasn't going to happen for a while and when the 10 day notice arrived I also went into melt down frequently. I had yelling, crying spells, was most unreasonable and probably unbearable too. I have never been one for panic attacks but they came on Suddenly. My husband coped with me because he had read the misters book. I did lots of meditations to calm me. Even while waiting to go into the OR. I don't think I've ever been as scared in my life. In the end it was no where near as bad as my imagination . 2 days out and I feel fine. This may change i know that but my attitude is positive again. Good luck and keep yourself busy.

Rescheduled Hysterectomy: June 12th

My surgery is scheduled 6/10 and I’ve been in pain since Memorial Day. My stomach is swollen like I’m 4-5 months pregnant and I’ve been having the crying episodes as well. I’m already in full blown menopause due to both Fallopian tubes rupturing after my ablation and taking one ovary out not knowing the other one was dead. It’s been an emotional roller coaster!
I’m literally counting down the days until I can just get into the hospital and praying this takes care of everything.
Hang in there, we are all in this together!
I’ll be praying for us all!

Re: Rescheduled Hysterectomy: June 12th

I would like to reassure all those with upcoming surgeries and in panic mode that with todays technology and skilled teams, making us well and healthy again is their sole priority. I admit this surgery scared me more than anything in my life (64 years) and I am usually levelheaded and balanced but the panic attacks came thick and fast. Your imagination does a lot worse that what really happens. I tried to stay calm with meditations constantly. I also gave myself a 2 day detox which made my Liver and kidneys ready for the assault of toxins and have come through with very little pain, no gas, complications and I actually feel amazing. As you progress I will keep you pro-op ladies in my prayers for a speedy recovery. You will get through all of this.
