Re: question anyone problem post ablation?

Hi! I am new to this site. I am 39 and have 3 children...plus 4 miscarriages....I had antiphospholipid antibodies.
I had a uterine ablation October 2008 due to very heavy bleeding all month long with cramps like labor pains (i had my first child completely natural). It took me 8 weeks to recover...plus, the uterine lining grew back few months later causing less bleeding than before, but the same horrible cramps. The bleeding eventually became unpredictable, bit not as heavy. The cramps became worse. I finally went back to the GYN and she discovered my uterus is enlarged and I have a large fibroid tumor. I am scheduled for a robotic hysterectomy to remove my uterus
on April 22, 2013. I choose to keep my ovaries.
My experience with the failed ablation was a nightmare. The recovery was awful! Worse than all 3 of my childbirths! I had one child natural, my second child as vaginal with epidural, and my third child was a c-section due to placenta previa. I welcome the hysterectomy and hope it ends my misery!

Re: question anyone problem post ablation?

I also have had trouble since my ablation, you are definitely not alone. My doctors believe I have PATSS (Post Ablation Tubal Sterilization Syndrome) and my hysterectomy is scheduled for April 11th. Each ultrasound that I've had since October (4) has shown fluid in my uterus and thickened endometrium. I haven't bled other than very, very faint spotting a few times and right now I wish I would, maybe it would relieve some of the constant pressure & pain. I joked throughout my friend's pregnancy that I was having sympathy contractions for her, but it's getting harder and harder to be lighthearted about hurting constantly. I am terrified of the hysterectomy but I can't stand the constant pain either.

Re: question anyone problem post ablation?

@ActIII: thank you! I surely hope the hysterectomy is the answer. I cannot imagine anything being worse than how I feel now or have felt in the past. I am desperate for pain relief. However, I am a bit nervous about how I will manage post op pain because I am allergic to all narcotic pain meds. Ibuprofen is all I can take.
