Medicaid refusing to pay!!

Hi sisters,
I have my surgery date of Jan 31st and yesterday I got a letter saying that Medicaid will not pay for it because I had an ablation in September for the same issue. Well, I am in Day 15 of my first post op period. I have a sub mucosal fibroid (4.8 cm) and others. So the ablation was an emergency fix because of a hemorrhaging situation. I am not wanting to sit around waiting for another emergency situation! One day at a time, God will work it out I know. So I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and see what he says. Sending you all positive vibes....

Re: Medicaid refusing to pay!!

If the doctor can't push it through, ask for a fair hearing to appeal their decision. I worked in the system many years ago. If you can show it would save them money in the long term they may approve it.

Oh no, try not to worry, the dr can probably code it so they will take it, insurance can be a pain. Praying things go smoothly

Medicaid refusing to pay!!

Btw, some hospitals have a charity/financial aid service for low income patients (mine will pay up to 100% of what insurance doesn’t pay), you probably know that, but sometimes people don’t know, so I thought I’d mention it.

Medicaid refusing to pay!!

Mangocat
Thank you. I didn't know that. This is the first year I have had Medicaid due to a divorce/change in income. I called the doctor and am awaiting a phone call.

I hope they can help, I know it can be uncomfortable asking for assistance (I still have trouble asking for any kind of help and often have to be talked into it) but the charity people tell me that’s why they are there, to help people who need it. You’ll want to ask the hospital you’re having the surgery at, not all have programs but it doesn’t hurt to ask their billing dept., if they don’t have a financial assistance department they might know other options (you can also talk to a social worker on staff at a hospital, they know a lot about local resources)

I am leaving for my final pre op appointment now. Good luck and I’ll log in later on
