This question is for all the sisters who have had enlarged uterus(mine is 20wk size), and have had their surgery already.
Do you notice a difference in the size of your belly since you have had your uterus removed? I know there is swelly belly, but any one have a smaller belly( smaller than pre surgery) after swelly belly has subsided?
I can really feel the large "broid" and feel my belly has gotten larger.
I am about 20 ponds over weight and do not expect my tummy to be flat by any means , but am hoping that it is somewhat smaller and it would be a bonus if I lost some weight when this is all said and done.
I have read alot of posts where some girls did lose.
I'm hoping all the stuff they are removing weighs about 30 pounds( LOL)

I had a TAH on 8-9-04. My uterus was 24 week size, and weighed 5 lbs. when removed. In all, I lost 12 lbs. in the hospital. Water retention, liquid meals, etc. Have the swelly belly, but is still a lot smaller than before the surgery.

Ok I am getting excited, after gaining 30 lbs the last couple of years maybe there is hope after surgery. I feel like I have no waist anymore, even though I excersize at Curves 3x a week and
walk alot..

Hi Linda

I had a 20 week uterus. I still have swelly belly but it is now a soft belly not a rock hard belly

My best guide to my tummy size was some blouses I had ordered for work, by the time I got them, I couldn't do the buttons up. I tried one on last week and I could - so it's smaller.

I don't think I have lost much weight yet though, grumble mumble , but that may be because I have used this opportunity to give up smoking and I am eating chocolate (I didn't like chocolate that much before, what's up with that?) . But I am walking now, I didn't take walks before the op, so there is hope.

Good luck !

I had a 16 week uterus which was also tipped forward and some large fibroids. They were definitely hard and lumpy and it got about an inch larger before my cycle (then water weight higher up on my belly).

My lower belly used to pooch out about two extra inches. It no longer does that. In the mornings my belly is actually flat. Now all I have to do is get rid of another ten pounds or so and I can finally wear these low rise pants! (But they'll probably go out of style once I have the body for them!)

thanks

Well that sounds encouraging, thanks for your replys girls,
The softer belly sounds much better than the big hard bulge I have right now. At least I should be able to wear close that will hold my tummy in better.
Thanks for the input.
Good luck to you all as you continue to recover.
